First round AeroGarden.

Today I bought an AeroGarden space saver 6 pod. I paid $30 for the AeroGarden and a deluxe herb kit. I took the sponge fillers out and took the seeds outa them. I placed regular old bag seeds in them to see if i can stick with it and take care of a couple plants before I pay money for good seeds. In 2 of the pods i took 4 day old sprouts outa the soil and dipped them in water to get the soil off and plant them (this might be a dumbass thing. its my first time growing and I dont have any gardening experience). I will try and keep this updated. Please give me any feedback that would help my grow be more successful.

I looked on craigslist.com and some dude had it on there for $30 it was too cheap to not try and see how it works. If nothing else it will be a good learning tool to make my own more improved version and on a bigger scale.

Found one on craigslist I could probably get for like $50, but I need the extra money right now to pick up some better soil

I am about to start my first aerogarden grow and the only thing i dont understand is how to adjust the pH of the water and nutes. I will be using purified drinking water and i have a digital pH meter. I have fox farm nutes.

DAY 16
So here they are day 16. The leaves on the bottom started to turn yellow so i just rinsed out the res and it stopped pretty quick. The smaller plant has some buddies chillin with it... hahaha obviously I didnt get all the chives seeds outa the sponge. Right now im still using th AG nutes. I let one dissolve in a cup and let it sit till I add more water to it. At this stage im unsure what nutes to add so I need some help. Let me know what yall think.

well it looks like you have the space saver 6 there, if i were you i would go get a pump and an airstone add it to the set up, i would also get the veggie pro aerogarden next, it has a bigger res and has much more valuable controls. also make sure you grab some cfl's for the sides of the plant. and for your next grow if your doing it in this aerogarden i would suggest using only one plant! unless you have a bigger res.

two is about the max you can do with that thing. you'll need a lot more light to support even two though. look at getting some CFL to place around the sides of the plant.

hahah yea i thought i had got all of them out. and i have 4 23w 6500k cfls they are just on 2 other plants right now. im glad 420 hopped on this thread, you seem to be very knowledgeable. and i can take the smaller one out now and plant that one outside if you think its gonna take a lot from the other.

You are also going to run into problems with those seed pods if you do transplant....you basically have to chop half the roots to get the plant out. I used AG nutes all the way up until flower and didn't have any problems.

Just a reminder. Tabs are best used when fully dissolved into a gallon jug of distilled water.

Yellow leaves won't be a problem. Leaf them ;)
It's not like they are diseased, they are likely just overnurished. Check the MJ problem section if you feel like boring yourself, typically it has to do with "lockout" or ph levels.
As for a quick solution, take the plants out and set them aside in a safe place and clean the reservoir. Fill it back up with some fresh fully dissolved nute solution. If you go out and spend the 99cents for the gallon of water, it will be PH balanced and the AG nutes I believe have something in them for maintaining levels. By dissolving your tab/tabs in a gallon jug and having another gallon jug on the side to "refill", you should run into fewer problems. The gallon jug on the side can be either a nute solution or just plain water. Depends on how healthy your plants look. Remember: Overfeeding kills and underfeeding just makes you skinny.

Been researching the aerogarden grows for a good while, and just started my first grow ever.

I have the bigger 7 pod model, also of CL, and tried starting three auto-flowering seeds. After some germination issues, I only have 1 left that I think is doing extremely well. She is three weeks old, but looks really healthy and strong.

After researching the aerogardens, I believe the best nutrients you can be using are the brand FoxFarm. They have a 3 pack of different nutrients you will use at different stages that I decided to try. So far so good man, hope this helps.

Oh, and this is my first post ever on RIU
