Alright, figured I'd start a journal (Full of pics) so that when I run into trouble, you guys will be able to help me more.

This is my first -real- grow. I tried once before, but only invested like 20 bucks so, the plant turned out shitty and to boot, male.

Here's my current set up:

Mother Chamber: 30"L, 28"H, 24"W
Flower Chamber: 36"L, 30"H, 24.5"W

1 150W CFL = 2600 lumens (Adding 3 more of these tomorrow)
2 Fluorescent grow light tubes (Unknown wattage/lumen, just for side growth)
The HPS for the flower chamber will be ordered in a month or so if the funds allow.

I have 1 sprout from bagseed planted yesterday but I'll be ordering feminized Afghan Kush seeds when I get my next check (I'm not going through all this work just to get a male again )

I'll be doing a Scrog to maximize my yield and limited height.

Anyways, it's a work in progress. Picking up some more materials tomorrow. I'll keep you all updated!

(Comments/suggests/criticisms always welcomed)

Ouch sorry about the male. I had similar first grow but got lucky with a girl but it could have been so much better if I had done my research before...

Everything looks great, looking forward to some update.

Good luck

I've got my eye on the 400w hps kit from HTG, all depends on the money when it comes time to flower.

As for the number of plants in the scrog, I'm thinking about doing 4.

Heading to the store in about an hour to pick up more lights and other much needed equipment (My sprout stretched some over night), more updates/pics to come later with the additions.

Thanks for stopping by.

Update:

Finished a couple of things today:

Reflective material on walls (Emergency blanket)
3 more CFLs with a more efficient hanging system (sitting at 10400 lumens now)

The space is looking much better.

I still need to find a jig saw so I can get to work on the intake/exhaust system. Right now I'm just leaving the doors open with a big fan sitting inside. I bought hinge locks for the doors as well, I'll install those when I get the exhaust set up.

So, to do list:
intake/exhaust
install locks
build a deodorizer

Which reminds me, I know it's different for all strains, but generally when do you guys think I'll start to need the deodorizer?

1st pic: Updated grow space
2nd pic: Temp/humidity readout
3rd pic: Bagseed sprout

The sprout is looking a little bent and stretched, but when I plant her in the actual dirt, I'll just bury the stem so all is good.

That's all for now.

you need to bury that whole puck under the soil only leaving the green showing

yup. roots like the dark so they will sprout all the way up to the top of puck for a better plant

You should consider building it into your vent system. Sooner would be better than later and it would be better to do it now. If you wait you will just be disrupting something later on. Figuring it out along with the venting is probably the most time efficient way. Of course you can always add it later if you have to.

When you smell them its time.

Alright, so I've now got the jigsaw to set up proper ventilation. I'm wondering, what would be a good fan to put in the side? I've heard that cpu fans make good exhaust fans but I really don't want to have to deal with cutting wires to power it. Any recommendations on a good exhaust fan (Cheap) with a link? Preferably something I can pick up at walmart, home depot, lowes, etc. I'm going to have the fan facing out to pull the air out and a passive intake system. I'll probably get the exhaust built by Sunday and have pics up then.

As for the plant, she's doing great. Staying short and not stretching (which is something I was worried about with cfl's) and working on the second node now. Pics tomorrow maybe.

for a smaller cabinet i would just use a bathroom fan. thier cheap and work fine. i use one on my converted dresser, some pic`s in my gallery i think. i can do some pic`s of mine to get ideas if you like. let me know

Alright, ran into a funding issue today for the ventilation set up. Gonna shop around tomorrow and see what I can find. If I can't find anything tomorrow, ventilation will have to wait for 5 more days. But it should be fine. I'm at 79 degrees and 35% humidity. I'd consider that acceptable. I just have to leave the doors open.

Attached are new pictures!

Does she seem a bit small for 8 days?

Wow. So first update in a while. Sorry for the lack, but work has been crazy lately. And because of that, my plant has also suffered. It has a problem where the lower leaves are turning yellow, getting crispy, and falling off. The growth also seems slow. A couple of pics attached, any suggestions?
