First real grow attempt-unknown bag seed*PICS*

Hey all,

I'm pretty much a newbie, other than screwing around some when i was much younger. This is my first "real" attempt at a grow, just got the card and I want some good personal smoke so quality is much more important than quantity. I have some clones of known good strains, and one single plant from seed of unknown origin. It came from a batch of seeds I have accumulated over the years, and it was one of few that germinated and wasn't male. I only kept seeds from the best smoke, so whatever it is it should be nice! Please let me know what you think about her, photos are attached. Just showing nice flowers after 12 days at 12/12 so it would be hard to identify at this point but any comments are welcome! It's definitely a mostly indica strain, the fan leaves are HUGE.

One question I have is this, should I clip the huge fan leaves that are shading the lower flowers? So far I have only clipped dying leaves and left the rest.

Here are the details for anyone interested:

Veg under 150W CFL 18/6
Supersoil-perlite-peat moss soil mixture
Water approx 2X weekly, feed every other watering
Sugarpeak veg complete organic formula-1tsp per gallon
Vitamin B-1 once in a while

Flower under 250W HPS 12/12
Same watering/feeding regimen but switch to flowering formula

Comments appreciated and good growing!

A 250W won't be too bad at all, $10-15 per month is usually about it. Once you get above 400W then you are into some serious power drain. For personal smoke, 250 is the perfect size.

Honestly, this plant has been through hell. It started out in soil and I was screwing around with an Aerogarden a few months back and tried it out in that. It did OK for a while, then had some problems and went back to soil. I had done some outdoor vegatable gardening and used a soil/composte/manure mixture that worked great. It turned out to not work so well with indoor and mushrooms started growing in the soil. I transplanted this one into the supersoil/perlite mixture and it's thriving. I guess it's true what they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger...

Been away for awhile, now day 30 of flowering. Things are starting to get stinky, sticky and crystaly. Any comments greatly appreciated, this is a totally random bagseed and it's beginning to look tasty!

Different strains can take different amounts of time to show, but mine started showing hairs at like 7-10 days and little buds within 2 weeks. By 3-4 weeks rapid growth should slow down and budding should be pretty much established. The last few weeks are about packing on density. If you have a sativa dominant strain, then these times can be much longer. Some sativa strains will continue to stretch and bud for months during flowering and can take 12 weeks or more to finish.

yeh my plant is unknown bag seed also heres some pics at 6 or 7 days
Yeah, it's looking like an indica dominant. Plan on between 7-9 weeks flowering. Bagseed grows can be a blast or a complete waste of time, but you look like you have a good start. The reason most shwag is shwag is because of improper harvesting, drying and curing and not bad genetics so even a seed from OK weed can turn out fantastic bud. On the other hand, bad genetics means crappy weed every time no matter how well it gets grown.
