First plant, need help

Firstly, I have grown a lot of different types of vegetables over the years and always started indoors. While I seem to have the hang of not overwatering and knowing when to ease off nutrients for tomatoes or peppers, I seem to still have a learning curve to go with this type of plant. Lol.

My plant was doing really well for a few weeks. I had decided to do a 1/3 mix of vermiculite, compost and peat moss with a little Rock dust and lime Dolomites like I do with all my plants. Anyways, last weekend I decided to water it again and within a day, the bottom leaves started turning lime green then yellow. It looked like nitrogen deficiency but know it was overwatering as the soil was saturated and took days to even dry a little. 3 days ago I decided to pull the plant out of the soil carefully, wash off the roots thoroughly and put it into a DWC system. Since then, I removed the baby leaves and first spear leaf as they had no chlorophyll left at all. The plant hasn’t grown much if at all, and the top leaves seem to have some dark green with yellow. It’s currently at 6.2 PH, with 500PPM nutes. It almost looks like it’s exhibiting phosphorous deficiency from some info I was reading think it’s still from when it had been overwatered.

Do you think this plant may come back to life? Any thoughts or suggestions I can do to help it along or just leave it as is for now and monitor the PH? It’s currently under 400 watt MH about 18 inches away. Heat is around 78F with light on and 70 for the 8 hours it’s off. It’s 3 weeks old now. I’m just wondering if I should start over again with another seed or two if there’s no hope for this one

Thanks!

Yes it will come back, it's in shock and will take time to recover before beginning to grow again, low nutes, stable ph.

Thanks Russ0r! I’ll see how it goes. Thanks for the hope :). Do you think 500 ppm is low enough for now to get it through the shock?

Thanks again

Roots look a little brown, are they slimy feeling? Agree there was shock from move to hydro. Rez temps?

I felt the roots and don’t feel slimy at all. I was pretty sure the time left standing in wet soil may have caused root rot but the roots aren’t slimy at all. I had also ripped a few roots during the transplant from wet soil to hydro which may have upset her too. Rez temp is 66F

Yeah you may be right, could be root rot. I didn’t create the best mix (not enough perlite to give it much aeration at the time when it was in soil). Maybe I’ll let it go for another week and if no progress I’ll strart over. Thanks!

I find all these posts from various growers really fascinating . So much science and thought goes into sucessful growing . Remeber back in the day bro would say " got my plant out" oh yea what ya got man ? MJ ya dumb fuck the hell you think i meant ? No no no what strain ? Werent no strain attall, lil damn thing dont weigh nuthin. No. Okay what kind of MJ you got growin ? Maaan are you fukin nuts ? Its the kind makes ya all mellow and high and stuff. What kind of soil you plant it in ? Ya dumb fuck i planted it in the damn ground............. sure have come a long way !:clap::clap::clap:

Its been a while, but I think 500ppm is too high atm, no more than 300ppm? and it will need a week before it will start regrowing, soil to hydro and vice versa is a very large shock, the roots need to recover/grow before you will see any recovery. I have done this multiple times in the past.

I changed out the Rez today to a 286ppm solution. Very light on the nutes this time and will see how that goes. I think you’re right, 500 might be too much here especially for a sick plant

After approximately 5 days in DWC and almost 10 days stunted growth from overwatering in soil, it looks like the plant is coming back to life. New growth is finally happening and they are a healthier looking green. The older leaves are not looking too hot but am glad it’s back on track. New white roots are coming out too. Thanks all!
