First Grow!

So I'm in week 5 of veg. It's my first grow. I put my girls outside (I'm in Southern California) all day, and supplement under CFLs at night. They look happy and healthy. About a foot tall so far. (See picture below) Here's my issue. My veg closet has very minimal space and in another 6-8" they'll be touching the lights. I've topped them once in hopes they will be bushier rather than tall. Pretty soon though I'll need to keep them outside. I know that it will put them into flowering because of the light cycle change, but my question is- is there anything I can do to either prolong the vegetation? If not, should I just give them good blooming nutes to yield the best I can? Thanks in advance, and sorry for the elementary questions.

If this is your first grow and they are still alive, that's a win. I imagine you cant raise the lights anymore, so at the first sign of burn put them outside. Even if they did start flowering now they are still gunna stretch and grow. See it through to the end and medicate! Remember on your first grow the idea is to just get through it, and have something to show for it. from then on its progression to perfection.
