First Grow

Trying my hand at a first actual indoor grow. I got some very good unknown strain. As you can guess i'm growing with cfl's, your basic broke noob setup. Planted Nov. 9th, three popped up over the next 2 days. They are in regular organic potting soil, watering whenever soil is dry 1-1.5" under the surface. Under 4 6500k 23w cfls, 4 2700k 23w cfl about 2-3 inches from plants. I have them on a 18/6 lighting period thinking i will have a short veg time to keep the size down. This is mainly a grow to learn the ropes, that way when i get my good seeds I won't go and kill them. Also one question i had was:
Would bending once it gets bigger increase my yield or should i let it grow?

low stress training (LST) is the practice of bending the growtips down. it keeps the plants short and forces it to grow out instead of up. it doesn't really increase the yield but it but allows you to get the lamp closer to the plant and therefore all the grow tips get equal light. good luck.

if it doesnt increase the yield whats the purpose of getting the lights closer?

But if the lower buds get more light then they should be bigger right

Sorry it's been a while, luckly nothing much has changed, had a few early on heat and ph problems but they are being corrected, I only kept one from the original 3 that were germed so hopefully it'll be a girl, but i have more underway. I also switched to a 12/12 lighting seed to weed grow. She (wishful thinking) is definately a lot smaller than other plants her age I think she may have got stunted due to the early problems. As always any advice will be appreciated. Also figured i'd throw in the literature in there as well.

Looks like you are off to a good start, perhaps you have pics of your room/lighting, where did you purchase the books and how much did they cost ya?

Right now my grow box is under construction so i jush have them in a corner of my closet. Got both the books from b&n: Buds was 16.95 and Mari. Hort. was like 18.95 i think those are the right prices. I'll try to get some update pics up

planted nov 9th, I think it looks pretty small for 20 days, but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the ph and heat problems i had

Thought i could bring her back by myself but I might need some help don't know why but lower leaves are going yellow and curling at the ends, water every 3-4 days, ph~6.5, no nutes just ph balanced water, 72 degrees at the coldest 79 at the highest don't know just happening, help would be much appreciated. Also recieved 2 unknown pretty good strain from a friend of mine started theem on 6.5 ph under 2 23w cfls for right now, upgrading soon. Any help much appreciated.
