first grow!

well i decided to make a grow journal, starting off with 6 seeds from random bags. they are about 4 weeks old now. at first i had them sittin on my floor in the view of the sun, i had no idea they needed so much light, but with the help of people on here and just reading around, ive learned alot more.. also picked up a Worms Way 2009 catalog(hope to order some goodies from it once i have some cash:bigjoint:). at the moment they seem to be doing pretty well(i guess).. one of them is going substantially more than the others and has a nice stem and what not. right now i just have two 4' fluorocent tubes on top of them. however, these will be planted outside around 420.

here is what my dumbass started with:

and after much reading and what not i finally put them under the 4' lights and this is where they have been for 2 and a half weeks, so im sure they are far behind than they should be:

and this one is doing the best out of them all:

what do you guys think?

Not lookin bad bro. Get that fluoro like 2-4" from the tops and make sure they're 2700k tubes. It's not perfect, but it'll due the job till you get em outside

so a buddy of mine told me that if you rub your stems, that it will make em grow stronger? i guess it does make sense, he also said playing metal music around them will make them grow more too? lmao, dunno..

and what do you think would be better?

1. planting directly in the ground?
2. planting in a 5 gal buckets or bigger and putting that in the ground?
3. painting buckets black and tie them up in trees?

anyway, here are a couple pics:

around 40 days old.. should they be bigger than that? all but one are around 9" or so... the one on the very left is over a foot tall, around 14"

the stems are about pen size in thickness. watered regularly but not over watered.. all their leaves are nice and green, there may be a couple plants with leaves on the very bottom with a tad of yellowing at the tips, but i think thats lack of light? also, when could i top these? im going to be growing outdoors and would like good results at lower height. im keeping em inside til around 4/20 or when the weather is finally going to stay good.
