@Aqua Man that's what i figured. appreciate you elaborating further! my air flow is currently quite optimal.

you're right about night time RH. i need to check leaf temps after the light has been off for 30 mins to determine night time RH since humidifier & fans are constantly going.
You don't need to calculate VPD at night but just need to make sure your RH is not spiking. Humidfier can go off a prob about an hour before lights out. Once they grow enough and you need to use a duhimidifier you will have to keep an eye out after lights out to make sure it's nots spiking and adjust if necessary.

Under 50% RH at night is not a problem and if you can bring it down under 55% it would be ideal. But even 65% in veg is ok over night.

the humidifier is set to turn off according to the RH but the sensor on it is too short, so it sucks! i've been utilizing the sensor from the exhaust fan for RH.
perhaps i can daily & laboriously set the humidifier on a timer & hope the plant can withstand a low humidity when the lights turn back on?

Timer will work. Off 1hr before lights out and on 1hr before lights on

Unfortunately the timer is for turning off only. A 24h outlet timer won't work for the humidifier either. I'll check humidity with lights off though.

Thanks for all the love & support brotha!
Really worth the investment.

I use their programmable temp controller Soni can do day/night etc up to 12 different setpoints/periods. They have a few options but this is a decent combo cheap

i tried a similar chinese humidity controller. unfortunately my experience was that the controller was ineffective because it only cuts off the power to the outlet. when the humidity is low enough, the controller resumes power to the AC outlet but my humidifier has to be manually powered back on..

my recent test:

lights off: humidifier 2/3 strength 84% RH, leaf temp 68f
lights off: humidifier 1/3 strength 71% RH, leaf temp 69f

will determine tomorrow:
lights on: humidifier 1/3 str ?% RH, leaf temp ?f

for now i suppose i'll stick to 1/3 strength on the humidifier

Yeah you can buy manual setting humidifier, dehumidifier etc. Or just make sure they have the auto restart function

My dehuey and AC both are. My humidifier turns on and off with my controller but it's a manual type not digital
Nice, dude!! I figured out what I'll do with the huey I have. 1/3 str setting before going to bed, 2/3 setting in the morning. I already have to refill the reservoir twice daily anyway.
Appreciate the humidity tips!

You will see what I mean by the difference when using leaf temps in the calculation. Your RH will be lower than you think when using these charts blind. That's why people have trouble and say VPD doesn't work.

It doesn't work if you don't use it right... Just like most things

Gotcha. Adjusted my RH. Per the article I want 57% RH at 75f. I found a spot where the humidifier's humidity sensor can be utilized. Getting 52-62%% RH on my exhaust fan's humidity sensor lights on. 57-64% lights off. I'll need to keep playing with sensor position.

Moved light higher, read it's better to stretch than light bleach the plant.

Did you make yourself the calculator? It's a must in my opinion

Day 27

that calculator was literally copy & paste into excel & enter in my variables. easy! this is exactly what i was talking about to Mr., "Your impression is wrong." thnx! @Aqua Man

another tool for this newbie grower's tool belt.

I started LSTing 3 days ago, my goal is to gradually LST her around the pot in an oval shape, so she can fill the 2x4 space. is my idea realistic? I would LST her lower but the bottom leafs are going into the medium. Should I trim those leaves?

Factoring in the LST, The WW is super short, only 5 1/2" no more than 6". she's growing inside but i'm thinking she may have a zinc deficiency from what i was reading last night.

I'm noticing some nute problem on some of the near newest growth, yellowing on the tips. This is the only problem I've had so far. The newest foliage is also looking a little lighter green than I'd like. Nitrogen deficiency? I'm beginning to wonder if using root stimulator 3-0-3 with GH half str nutes & full str calmag was the way to start (diluted by 40 recently)
I'll research tonight as I eat something but I need some feedback!

It's day 4 and the medium is getting close to needing watering again. I watered probably 22 oz of nute water last watering.
I started using my second fan to blow at the wall near the smart pot so the medium can hopefully dry out quicker.

I'll be putting my humidifer on the time off timer. I'm adjusting my light schedule so i can turn on the humidifier not too long after the lights turn back on in the morning

New growth is always a bit lighter I would not worry that's normal.

Try to have night temps 10F cooler that will help it stretch out a bit.

Don't over feed that plant is young and won't need much. If your in a soil mix that has nutes you will need none. If your in something that does not provide nutrients then 200ppm max at this stage.

Don't worry about training quite yet. You will be scrogging correct? I find no need to lst just top and keep tucking after.

How close is your light? And what light are you using?

RO water, the ppm is reading 345... maybe i should dilute it? do you grow in coco? i think i read you grow hydro which is similar (i'm growing in coco.)

can i lst instead of topping? i want to try this grow without topping, if that's feasible.

per the VPD calc & the guide stating .8 is the sweet spot + considering the air temp & the RH, i moved the light to 29" from top to hopefully get leaf temp to 78
lux is reading 18k from the plant's top. maybe i should reduce tent exhaust instead?
