First grow, question on timing and strain ID

As the title says, this is my first time growing, and I need a little bit of help. My plant came from a bag that had originally been sold to me as purple kush. As time has passed, it has become apparent that what I have may not be PK.

A little background on my grow: I found some seeds in a bag some time ago, decided to toss one in a pot. I put it by the window where it got a few scraps of sunlight for a while. I didn't care, because I had no plans of growing anything and was just doing this as an experiment to see what would happen. I got curious and read all of growweedeasy.com, and eventually determined the plant was a female. I bought a couple of lights and followed all the advice I found online on how to handle the flowering period and everything related to it. As PK, this was supposed to be 8 weeks of flowering, which meant that I would harvest on November 24, a couple of weeks from now. As this may not be PK, I don't know when the harvest should be.

Since this is my first time, I don't know how close my buds are to being ready--Information on the aforementioned website would suggest that they are not ready yet, but once more I'm a newbie, so I think I need all the help I can get! I tried to get the best pictures I could today, which is exactly 6 weeks into flowering. The plant grew stunted as hell from the lack of sunlight in the first ~3 months of its life by the window, but it increased in mass about 4-5x since training it by bending it to a 90 degree angle and putting two bulbs on it. My yield will probably be quite low by most people's standards, but I have learned a lot over the last 3-4 months and I know my next grow will be much better.

Also, if the strain looks familiar to anyone, please let me know what you think it could be. I think it's most likely an indica or at least indica-dominant hybrid.

Once again thank you for the help.

Way to go! grow your own!
Many people have this question "When to harvest", specially when they are in their first grow and the anxiety kicks in.
Judging by the picture I would say 3-4 weeks but the ultimate way is to analyze the trichomes using a magnifier.

Every plant and setup is different so you cant simply harvest when it hits 8 weeks, there are no rules set in stone when comes to cultivation, everybody has their quirks.. some like to wait until the trichomes are 10% amber, 20%, 30%, some even more.
I would recommend that you wait until its 20-25% amber and most hairs are brown (sometimes the plant creates new white hair late in the flowering, that is ok). So get a 60x - 100x magnifier and take a peek!
Also, if you are familiar with Growweedeasy check their harvesting tutorial, very good too.

I hope this helps. Keep growing!

when i first started growing i would use 70 days in flower as a good time to chop not too early not too late. ... and thats 70 days from flower.. NOT when you switched your lights..... ususaly when i switch my lights i don't start counting for a week.

hard to tell strain from pics... let alone early budding pics. leaves look hybrid.. not to fat not too skinny... you def have some hybrid.. not sure what though

Many thanks for your input!

I'm not in a rush to harvest or anything like that, I bought a magnifying glass to see trichomes with and I couldn't see them very well, so I went with growweedeasy's other (albeit less precise) method of gauging maturity, which involves the "hairs" and what percentage of them have darkened and curled.

I will do my best to get better magnifying equipment so that I can see the trichomes better and get a more precise idea of when to harvest.

The 70 days in flower would fit with the suggestion of giving it 3-4 weeks, as 4 weeks from now would mark the 10th week since switching to 12/12.

Thanks again for the help.

Lol don't ever trust the breeders claims of 8 weeks, they pretty much all say 8 weeks.
I've had 8 week strains take 12 weeks so you just be patient and it is what it is.
