First grow... Leggy seedlings with few leaves?

Maybe I shouldn't worry... But my seedlings seem to be growing sslllloooowwwwwlllyyyyyy... I have them in MG potting soil. Not even the organic stuff.. I know. Hopefully getting some FoxFarm tomorrow and repotting. If I can get my hands on some Mushroom compost i'll add that too

Also, they started out on a very weak CFL for the first week or so, and are now sitting under a regular CFL bulb... Honestly i'm not sure of the wattage. They've been in the soil about 13 days. See my grow journal for more details and pictures of my soon-to-be-completed box, but i'll have a 125 Watt 6400k CFL set up in a 20" x 20" x 5'. Borrowing a circular saw tomorrow so i'll be able to put in the fan and install the lights... and this battlestation will be fully operational.
I guess my question is this: Are these seedlings so stressed that I should start over? Any suggestions, comments, criticisms are appreciated. Thanks for reading.

For starters, the box:
20" x 20" x 5'
I constructed the box from 1/2" plywood panels screwed to a frame made of 2" x 2" wood. Last night I caulked all corners and edges inside the box to prevent any light or smell leaks and also applied the first coat of flat white paint. Definitely need more paint but looks like the sky might be on a rain kick for the next couple of days. Hopefully moving the box indoors later and applying more paint.
EDIT: Box is finished, looks good! Pics soon.

Light:
Ordered a Hydrofarm 125 W CFL fixture/reflector after finding a good deal online. Was also able to pick up another 125 W bulb for really cheap! So as soon as they get here, i'll have a 6400k and 2700k so I can swap them out when I start flowering.
EDIT: Lights are up!

Soil:
Right now i'm using MiracleGrow for my two seedlings. They are in peat pots. Soil and nutrients is where i'm stuck right now as far as getting the box ready to grow. I've been doing some research and i'd like to go with either Fox Farm or Light Warrior w/ some mushroom compost added. Any other suggestions on amendments? Also, as far as nutrients go.. I have no idea what to do. Plan on doing a bit more research tonight (I got JC's book), and have been doing some reading around the forums, but there's so much information there it's tough to figure out what's gonna be both in my budget and practical for my one plant.
EDIT: I picked up some ROOTS Organic. Contains most of the same stuff as Foxfarm.. Also, who would recommend using the foxfarm line of nutrients... and should i pick up the trio or can I get away with one or two of them? Anyone advise against these?

Exhaust:
Yesterday I picked up a Broan Bathroom Ventilation Fan ( model 688 ). Unfortunately just read that these are pretty noisy, but that'll be okay with me until I have the capital to invest in something better. I figure this will do because it's labeled to vent 50 cfm... and seeing how my box is only (roughly) 14 cubic feet it should exchange the air often enough. Question: Passive air intake? or does anyone think i'll need an intake fan as well?
Also, I plan on leaving the covering off the fan when the plant starts to smell and adding a makeshift carbon filter. Reading around it seems this will cut my cfm's in half at the least, but 25ish would still accomplish what I need. Thoughts?
EDIT: Fan is in, it's pretty loud but I can deal with it. And it's not so loud that the neighbors will be complaining.

Seedlings:
Random bagseed i've had saved up for awhile. They germinated in a couple days which was sweet, especially considering it was a struggle to keep the plate/wet paper towel warm. The heat blanket I was using had an auto shut off. They seem to be doing pretty well... Kinda stretched maybe, but they haven't had a very consistent or optimal environment thus far.
EDIT: Check the pic in my last post, seems to me these seedlings are growing very slowly... Maybe I should start over now that the box is setup and I can treat em' right.

Will update with pics later... Pretty much as soon as I can get my grubby little mitts on a point and shoot camera. I've got a lot more ideas i'd like to get down (perhaps a ScrOG!!), but they can wait... If you read this far, Thank You

Cheers

Everything is setup... Temperature is 73 F... So far just running a passive intake through an unsealed opening in doorway... Humidity is low though, about 37%, so I set a glass of water in the box... Hopefully that will create enough moisture. Really don't want to have to spend $$$ on a humidifier. Also, that fan is pretty noisy, but it get's the job done and it's not so loud my neighbors will be complaining... You actually can't even hear it outside my room when the door is closed. Oh and I put in some thick plastic floor matting.
Also figured out power usage... 125 W lamp + 108 W fan = 233 Watts!
This whole box, including soil, lamp, bucket, and fan, Ph Down, air-soil-ph meter, and thermometer/hygrometer and cost to drive to neighboring city with a Home Depot cost roughly $260-$280. Once I get nutrients I figure it'll be about $350.
WORD

EDIT:
Check my journal for a few pics of materials and the box as a WIP

Adding a couple more pics of the box and also of the seedlings. Overnight the leaves got real droopy on one of them :( But covered all mounting holes, slits, cracks, etc in the fan casing so it is moving air through the box much better now. Also added another bowl of water to increase humidity... Has been moving quite a bit in the 31-37% range since I got everything setup. Temps are staying around 72-73 F but dropping to mid-60's overnight. To keep pots warmer and increase evaporation I've got a heat blanket underneath them. This is at 16 days.

after reading your thread title…*then looking @ 1st pic……*I LOL'd

my recommendation is (as you already planned BTW) get the out of MG and into some FFOF soil. Also…*when you repot them…*bury the stem up close to the first set of leaves that sprouted.

Also to help keep humidity high…*(after repotting anyways) you can put plastic baggies over them.

good luck on ur grow!

!

Did you check out the last set of pics? It's been sixteen days and the circumference around the leaves is no bigger than a quarter man. Think it's worth it to keep going with these plants? I was thinking I might try and start over now that I can provide a pretty consistent environment.

yah I did…*go to homedepot/lowes or whatever and get the smallest plastic potting container (usually 2.5L or just a lil smaller than 1g) and xfer those in there and pot up to the top almost. What you have them in now is the reason why they have grown tall and lanky

Thanks for the advice man! I'll throw them in some RootsOrganic later today and change pots. Btw checked out your journal, Good luck!
