Hey All,
Sorry about your seedlings Deputy. Damping-off sucks. Try again, thats the only way to succeed! Ive been busy so I hav'nt had much time to post anything. Hey BUDDZZZ, ya I think that will work. You might want to add more lamps later, but for now all seems good. Remember keep the lamps close with plenty of air movement. I only grow one plant at a time in my box. They require a lot of room. Check out my new reflector I just installed. Also I included a picture of my baby Blueberry Auto. Boy she stinks already. She,s a week and a half old. I will post better pictures of my reflector later,IMG_00000208.jpg IMG_00000210.jpg this ones not too good.

Good luck All,

Looking good Sherm! How long will your plant veg for before switching? Or does it just auto flower from the beginning? Looking good though! Is that one in Coco? My new plants doing good so far. Broke the surface yesterday and is pointing nicely. Problem is that it's just a freebie seed that I got with my NL fem seeds. I didn't want to waste anymore NL seeds until I had the damping off figured out so praying is a beautiful bouncing baby girl! 1406215498734.jpg

Hey Deputy,

Your little baby is looking awesome! Did they send you a female seed? I started this seed in potting soil. She is going to go in coco next week, also I'm going to use my drip bag irrigation system this time around. Hopefully it doesn't flood my box, I've got to adjust the drip valves. She's an automatic, so I would expect to see some flower action in about three weeks.

Good luck on the new baby,

Lookin fancy there deus! Lol. I like the idea of a drip irrigation but until I can get a couple successful traditional grows in I'll prob stick to the good old fashioned hand watering. Anyway, I'm nervous bc I leave for work in a couple days and be gone for 3 weeks so I'm hoping my wife treats our baby nicely while I'm gone.
Sherm, about the seeds thing.... I ordered 5 NL fem seeds and they mail 10 freebie random seeds with it. So after losing two of my 5 fem seeds to the damping off, I used the bag seed this next go around. If it ends up being male I just throw it outside with the rest of our herbs and practice my growth training on it and then start another NL seed next time I'm home from work. 1406387140148.jpg

Hey Deputy,

What's up my friend? I'll post some pictures this evening of my irrigation system. It's a great tool, if you are away or have a busy lifestyle, this is the thing for you. Also, because my space is limited you dont have to woory about spilling water or moving things around. I plan on growing SCROG, so this will help, once I start tying the plant down I can't move anything so this was the only way to go. The actual drip bag is about 15' away from my grow box attached to the ceilling so no chance of it soaking anything in my basement. I found this product online at Two Wests and Elliot in the U.K. I think I paid about $15.00 for it, way cheaper than anything I could find in North America and their shipping is much faster. It got here in about five working days. I love ordering stuff from the U.K. and Europe, faster service and much more inexpensive. Anyhow, enjoy the day! Oh yeah, it's called the "Big Drippa".

Peace,

Just finished watching the YouTube video of the big drippy. Looks pretty idiot proof. My only concern is that from everything I've read about growing in Coco that you need to water til 20% run off so salt doesn't build up. Don't think that would be possible with the drip system. But would be great for soil grow I reckon.

Hey Deputy,

I think with a flush between every second or third feeding should resolve any type of salt build-up (or just heavier waterings). I think the pros out weigh the cons here. It still beats moving everything around at watering time. Everything has a way around it, we would'nt be here doing this if it did'nt.

Peace,

Im not really a soil grower but after reading over a thousand soil fuck ups on here with all this crazy shit people use to grow a weed just boggles my mind.. 2 KEY COMPONENTS... SOIL AND SOMETHING TO MAKE THE SOIL NOT PACK TOGETHER IS WHAT I CAME UP WITH.

CHECK THIS OUT FOR ANY SOIL PEOPLE KEEP IT SIMPLE SERIOUSLY.
ONE BAG OREGON'S ONLY DIRT. AND TO KEEP DIRT FROM PACKING TIGHT I USE A CRUSED LAVA STONE STRAIGHT FROM VOLCANO HAWAII WHICH HAS MORE NUTES THAN ANYTHING MAN MADE... ALL THIS COCO LIL HAIRY SHIT YOU GUYS USE FUCKS ME ALL UP.. TOO MUCH THINKING TO GROW A WEED LMAO WATER DAILY AND USE ORGANIC FOOD ONCE A WEEK IF NEEDED MOSTLY JUST WATER SINCE THE VOLCANIC SOIL HAS ENOUGH IN THEM
FUNNY THING IS MOST TELL ME IM AN IDIOT FOR HOW I GROW. BUT I WILL TELL YOU I DONT HAVE THE PROBLEMS MOST FACE EVERY DAY I SIMPLY KEEP IT SIMPLE AND WATCH THEM PROSPER.....

Lol I hear ya bro! I'm getting fed up with this Coco. I'm fairly certain this seedling I got now is dying of damping off just like the last two did. I'm considering switching to soil once I get back from work. If not throughout the whole grow, at least through the seedling stage and then switch it to Coco once it gets some roots established. It just aggravates me bc I have a whole bale of Coco and Canna Coco nutes. :wall:

So I guess my question is.... Can I do that? If I grow my seedling in a soil in a solo cup until it gets established, can I then switch it to my two gallon pot of Coco and perlite and begin using my hydro nutes? Thanks in advance guys. I surely appreciate the feedback.

dude you can switch to anything i started in rock wool cubes. then in to hydro after cotyledon is gone. its a plant you can do what ever you need to do Remember all a plant needs is a medium for roots to establish and some water and lil food.. this science shit and all these proven methods PHEWIE i laugh at it all.. its a WEED the mutha will grow anywhere as long as you leave it be and watch it when she tells you she's hungry..
i just started growing in jan. this is my second grow i got dwc/ebb and flow going along with a dwc and 9 1 liter air pots with strictly TOPS growing.. like i said my soil cost me around 14.00 dollars for all 9 pots and still have 90% of my bag left along with the crushed lava..
every day i see people complaining on soil.. ITS SIMPLY BECAUSE EVERYONE is an expert..... keep it simple stupid my friend you will have great yields......

Hey All,

My Blueberry seed, the one I'm currently growing was put in good premium potting soil after germination. She is now in Miracle Grow-Expand 'n' Grow. It's the best stuff on the market right now in my opinion. This stuff has alot of Coco, sand, peat and everything else needed for healthy plants. It's way more expensive than regular potting soil, but it has no moisture in the bag when you buy it, thus you're not paying for water!

Furthermore, you're getting 3 times more grow media in the bag. I've been waiting for something like this to come along for some time now. If you go on Mandala seed's website they have a breakdown of what they consider to be the best soil's, and this is one of them. As far as I'm concerned anything that the owner's of Mandala Seed's suggest as far as growing M.J., they wrote the book on it. Not to mention they sell the best strains, bar none! They maintain that you should never have to add any extra nutrients to a good soilless potting mix, just frequent re-potting.

P.S. I have never grown anything from them, gotta hone my skills first!

Peace,

I would not give miracle grow one cent.. Look into them.. Your dirt outside works well too.. Ive used that on one pot... in other words in 2nd grow I've got to experiment with so many ways to grow..

Hey Deus,

Even my outdoor plant is in my own soil mix. All premium potting soil's are awesome. I have ton's of house plants and I've used pretty much everything on the market and they all have preformed great. Remember, it must be a "premium potting soil", that is certified. This also includes Fox Farm product's, most everyone here is familliar with that one. My Big Bang in my backyard is six and a half feet tall, I mixed her soil based on the ingredient's found in most good potting soil's and I barely have to feed her. She get's fed once a week with a high N solution until flower. I guess it's personal preference. What work's for me may not work for you.

I simply don't like the company and what they are about that's all. I don't support miracle grow

Well I sure appreciate all the information guys. It's nice to hear feedback from people with successful grows under their belt. I'm not too excited about supporting a company like Scotts and MG so I'll prob go with the good ol fox farm.

Let's say for shits and giggles I was to keep my lady in the Fox farm soil for the whole grow... What nutes would u suggest I use? I'm still on the fence as far as transplanting her from the soil to the Coco bc Ide hate for a nice sturdy 3 week old girl to end up dying of damping off like all my seedlings did. I'm convinced the fungus or whatever it is is in my Coco right out the bag. I know damping off effects seedlings much easier than maturing root systems but do you think it would be alright? Thanks
