first grow hydro

they have been flowering for a week and hydro is not forgiving as soil . dont water (DEAD) thats it and the hps lights dried them out even faster couse of the heat and lack of humidaty tofoliage and roots . there is no comming back from that . I am hurt but fuck it . they were dank seeds anyway . I have some good seeds to grow . I am debating what strain to grow now . purple widow, holland hope , or durbin poision. maybe you guys can help me make my mind up :peace:

Looking on Attitude I'd think you would want to stay away from the purple widow (big plants), and Durbin Poison ( sativa = long flower). That leaves us with Hollands Hope. Still it depends on what kind of effect you are looking for. You can deal with the rest.

I was doing the same thing you are ( looking on attitude ) and it is not about the flowering time . it'sall about the taste and high , I am more into a sativa (up high) then a couch lock . and I think I am going with durbin poision . , I am only planting 5-6 seeds when I get home from work tonight 11 pm nyc time . lol . now would the next set of seeds be considerd my first or second grow ? lol. who cares right as long as the bud comes out tasty as fuck peace I might kill this thread couse it is depresing the shit out of me

Then Durban Poison it is! 2nd grow by my def. First grow was a leaning experience! LOL! Did I tell you that only one plant survived till the end of my first grow? I'm only one plant up on ya! LOL!

i would go for the purple widow for sure..i was looking in the new hightimes ganja guide 09 and saw a purple afghan..but its only availably by clone/

well people I told my wife to germinate 5 durbin poision seeds and what did she put in , purple widow . wtf . her 7 years in yale did nothing for her . she cant even take intsructions. any way two of the five cracked and I just put them in rockwool. there are three more left . here we go again .

See the thing with different strains..when flowering you need a 5gal bucket so you can flush just one plant if you want..you know set it up like you growin in it..bubble dis and air pump..seperate the roots and put just that early finished plant in it and flush just that one..if you flush. Those 5 gal buckets can be used in many ways.

Just read your sad story...We are leaving on vacation with one week into flowering on a DWC grow. First time for me doing hydro. To prevent DOA after vacation I have installed a battery back system for my sump pump that converts 12volt DC voltage to 110VAC for the sump pump to run should there be a power outage. To keep plants alive should we see a power outage while gone I will plug the air pumps into the back up system. Thinking with air and water they should be ok even if I burn out a lamp or the recirc pump, dehumidifier, or venting motors fail. The back up system is called Storm Pro. Hope this helps someone..

well out of the five seeds 4 seeds germed and three sprouted and 1 gave up befor hitting the top of the rockwool so I gave it a little boose to the top and it is recovering , but I went out of town for a night and came back and the one of the sprouts dried up . and now I am left with three sprouts . 2 of them shotin roots from the bottom

Keep on keepin' on! Question, when you put the seed in the rockwool do you use the premade hole? I was told at one point not to use the premade hole because it is made for clones and you end up planting the seed too deep. I flip my rockwool over and kind of carve out a spot for the popped seed with my tweezers and even leave just a bit of the seed exposed sometimes. 100% go on to give me a plant from there.

sometimes the rockwool gets pressed when I am flushing and rinsing them befor use so the hole uselly closes up and I wind up making another one for the seed and I look and see if it's deep . I guessed the holes were for clones and not seeds , but anywho here are the pics from a few mins ago this is purple widow , day 3 from sprout . I am happy with what I have . I really dont need more than three plants to start with couse I am going to he mad scientest with cloning

well are you going to do NFT or ebb an flow , if youre going to do ebb and flow you are going to need the extentions and the drain screen for the drain hole . like the ones in the 6th and 8th pic in this link https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/198921-first-grow-hydro-12.html#post2694670 . and thats all you need my friend . nothing much to it . I think you paid a little too much for the stuff . this place is the cheapest I've seen http://www.4hydroponics.com/. check them out . I also made the other scrubber and put up that power ptrip on the wall as you can see in the pics , now I have two carbon scrubbers in both rooms for half the price of one .

Thanks for the quick reply. Ebb and flow for sure. I added some of those extensions and screens before I "clicked". I've heard good and bad things about screens. Some say later in the grow a leaf or I was thinking roots might get in the tube and cover the screen and flood the room. Guess that's just a maintenance issue. Scrubbers I'm not worried about but have a power strip in mind. Also planning to drill a hole, get a 400 watt from HTG with a vented hood. I was sitting here drawing myself little pictures of the tube and where to drillthe holes. I divided 48" by 3" net pots. From the end that left me with on center drilling at 6 1/2", 5 1/2, 5 1/2, 5 1/2, 5 1/2, 5 1/2 leaving me 5" on both ends. I know I have overthought this and like I said before I'm not handy with tools! LOL!

thats not over thinking it , thats how you plan things out . its not that hard couse trust me , I am not that great with them either or designing
