First Grow, How does she look so far?

First grow period. The strain is Purple Trainwreck. Have her inside a 2x2x5 box that is mylar wrapped on the inside, intake and exhaust fans and a 400w cooltube. Using soil/perlite at 65/35. She sprouted back in late April, but was stunted for a week with little light. I had to veg her a little longer but she has come back and I waited for alternating nodes before forcing her to flower. I have been on 12/12 for ten days. She is in a 5 Gal. bucket and is being fed Alaska's Fish Fert, Seaweed Extract, and Dyna-Bloom. Feeding every four days, plan on flushing at the end. How does she look? any suggestions are appreciated!

looking solid brother but i gotta ask... Your only giving nutes every 4 days when do you give it just plain water? also here's an idea throw some black-strap molasses in your nute mix.

Also i hope you don't run out of room generally once plants hit flowering they double in size...

I alternate with water and nutes every four days. I have heard a lot of good things about the molasses, do most garden centers have it? It was about 16 inches when i put it to flower and has grown to 24 so far. I'm hoping to keep it under four feet. Just a matter of time now.

I always get it at the local grocery store but make sure to get Black Strap. Have you topped them at all?

No topping yet, its already in flower, from my research, it had to be done in vegetative stage, right? I am doing Nutes every 8 days, water in between. I havent had any nutrient burn/yellowing in five weeks, when it was very small. Is alternating watering and nutes as needed an acceptable schedule? or do you nute-water-water?

I always just Nute, water, nute. I've heard and seen people top plants during flowering but it's gotta be done early on. I don't think it will stunt it too long. I'd say your good in the first week or two. But I'd research it more.

Is it true the stretch is only during the first few weeks of flower? I have about 8 more inches of headroom, but shes been in flower over two weeks. do you think her stretching at night will be reduced as she puts more effort into bulking up her buds? thanks in advance.

Here is the whole plant after two weeks of 12/12. Gave straight rainwater yesterday, will feed alternating watering. Did have some drooping of leaves immediately after watering yesterday, they stood back up within an hour.

If this is your 1st grow; just let it be. Topping and all that other stuff should be after you have more experience with growing IMO. After they are picked/enjoyed; then you can start messing around with tricks. Friendly advice

Indeed, I have been trying to keep it simple with minimal nutes and a simple soil mix. Tryin to learn as much as I can.

Third week of 12/12 and I think she is lookin pretty good. getting tall tho. How long until she stops growing up and starts filling in?

According to Al-b-Fuct (Resident Guru) the plants can't break down complex sugars like molasses. Is it for something else?

But they can break down the beneficial microbes in it which creates sugars...

I only use it because at one time I did an experiment and fed two plants the same except one I added Molasses and it really seemed to help, I think it ended up weighing just a little more but it def. was more resinous and seemed stronger when doing a blind taste test.

I could very well be wrong but I don't really care because I've had success with it I also want to add that people on here don't always know what there talking about and throw "facts" around without any scientific data to back it up. So I do my own experiments to find out what works best for me.

Topping a plant is done in the Vegging stage. When the plant has about 6-5 Nodes. You make a cut at the main stem Just above the 3rd node at a 45 degree angle

This tells the plant to stop growing tall and start growing bushy... The end result is 2 new shoots. and a Small Bushy Plant...some people use the FIM method. Which i dont understand.

Can anyone Confirm this? I have not done this myself and plan on using this method to produce small bushy plants

You can use top you cut to produce a few clones

What's up brother, I too was curious about FIM So i did it, just recently actually. It's kinda interesting I'll try and throw some pics up but I topped one, FIM'd one and am twisting one around the pot. Just too see what happens. It's kinda interesting Im only 3 weeks into veg so I dunno how it will work out in the long run.
The one I topped is doing awesome actually the best of the 3 but there all diff strains so that could be it. the FIM'd one is kinda cool it like confuses the plant and its looking like it's growing 4 shoots up instead of 2 like when topping. These pictures aren't up too date nor are great examples but I don't feel like going to take pics. But so far its seemed to work great. The first is the Blue Widow and it was FIM'd and the second is the White Siberian Topped.

Did you really just cut the top off? Or is there some special technique. I can see it all on paper. But im more of a visual guy.

I have seen a youtube video of a guy who ties his plants around the pots, It was interesting as hell.

Keep up the great work.
