First Grow/Grow Log - Auto AK & Berry Ryder

Hey everyone!

I'm new to the forum and new to growing cannabis, but am a longtime avid smoker and have always wanted to try it to see the results of the smoke and potential financial upsides of the trade. I have bought all of my tent supplies and have been researching growing procedure for the past month for about three hours a day.

I am currently waiting on my seeds from Attitude, I placed the order earlier this week and they are being prepared to be shipped overseas to the states!

I'm going to be conducting an indoor closet grow, not necessarily stealth. Just using an extra closet in the empty room of the house. Thankfully my girl doesn't have a problem with me growing. :)

I'm planning on germinating and growing four of the eight seeds that I'm receiving from Attitude, three being G-13 Auto AK and one seed being Auto Seeds' Berry Ryder (I wanted a quick plant to get some good, quick bud to hold me over while the others are growing and flowering.)

My set up is a simple CFL set up with extension cords, light sockets and light socket splitters, aluminum baking pan/mylar reflective hoods, and (for now) four 23 watt 6500k CFL bulbs and four 5000k CFL bulbs. 5000k bulbs are slightly cheaper and I also read that your veg time will benefit from using all aspects of the daylight spectrum. I plan on switching to 2700k after the 25th day of vegging to get those babies to flower. I also lined the whole closet with mylar. I plan on going to get the soil and whatnot when I get back into town at the end of the weekend, as I am currently on a road trip with my team right now. Opening day is tomorrow and I am posting this right before I hit the sheets! (I play college baseball in Texas)

I will be posting pictures of my grow tent as soon as I get home, and will be posting pictures of germination, hatching, planting, sprouting, vegging, flowering... the whole nine yards.

Although I have done tons of research and am pretty sure of how I want to go about this grow, I know that I would benefit from some help along the way from all the experienced growers here at RIU. (This forum is actually where I got most of my research info from)

I haven't quite decided whether I want to go with the "glass of water" method or the "paper towel" method when it comes to germination yet, but I know I will be putting the seeds in peat pellets once they do germinate. I read that this benefits the plants early root structure and therefore can increase the size of the yield right from the get-go.

What would y'all recommend? Glass of water method or paper towel method for germination? Thank you in advance to all who give advice! Have a good one.:-P:weed:

FARRRRT! I didnt have time to read all of your post, due to the sZent of my finger. I ( look at my avatar) like to keep the beans moist in my darkest crevasses. Really though, I like the concept of freezing my beans, then thawing them during germination to replicIZate nature. Damp towel in a zip-lock bag, or cup O' H2-ohh haz always-ed work well. It's up to you, to bring your wildest dreams to fruition- there are many paths to enslaving the masses- PICK ONE! In your decision, I recommend referencing Rollitup's stickies. Obama is Muslim.

Sorry y'all, it took me awhile to get the grow room finalized but I finally did! I germinated four seeds in a glass of water and all produced little stems after 24 hours. I inserted the seeds spike down in a peat pellet and put the peat pellet in a solo cup full of organic starter soil. Now we play the waiting game! Here are a few pictures of the grow room and the seeds/soil cups. Any tips are more than welcome!

I doubt that is enough light bro. You need at least two more set-ups like that to try and cover them babies with light. You can also get the $10 plant grow tube fluoros from walmart and supplement some more light to them. By the way, do you have any new updates for us?
I hope this is helpful

how many "actual" watts on those cfl's. Don't believe that's enough light for that space either imo. cfl's only really penetrates 5-6" i use them for supplemental side lighting and early stage seedlings .
