It is a baby girl...congrats.
If you want to delay full flowering, supply the plant with a few hours of supplemental lighting as mentioned above by Mz.

If you want smoke able buds ASAP, then you can move the plant to a dark location for twelve hours of uninterrupted darkness for the next 60 to 70 days or so.

Just keep on keepin on... If you're going to be outside the whole time she might start to try to flower. If you live way out in BFE just put a cfl light real close to her all night and that will keep her from flowering. This early ouside and by the time OCT comes around you could have a monster on your hands if you're gonna do it in your back yard just dig a 3x3x3 hole and put some good organic soil in there and just transplant into that hole and let her reach her true potential. FTP right?!?!
Unfortunately I don't have the privacy for an outdoor light or to let this plant get very big. This was really just an expirement to get a feel for how it grows as this was just some cheap bagseed. I now need to decide to either just let this plant begin flowering and smoke the little that it will produce or try to let it get bigger first.

I would like to let it grow a bit more before flowering, but I can't really do an outdoor light with the plant in the ground. It's in a pretty large pot right now, so should I attempt to bring it inside near sundown and put it under a light for a few extra hours?

So after a couple more days of checking the plant every morning and evening, it seems that there are some flowers/buds forming quickly where the white pistils first appeared (pictured in a previous post) and a bit lower on the plant as well. Does this mean the plant is trying to enter flowering stage now? Should I just let it? From what I understand I have a couple options:

1. Induce flowering now by 12hr of controlled darkness

Or

2. Encourage more vegetative growth by giving the plant an extra couple hours of light

Either way, I will have to bring the plant indoors as I can't think of a discreet enough way to have a light outside. I have an available closet that I can use and 100% control the lighting in (I'll have to get an appropriate light of course).

The plant is still very small and I'm sure it wouldn't produce very much at this point, but id like to also speed the process up a bit so I have a better understanding for my more serious grow in the near future.

Advise me!!!

So here's the plant as of yesterday:

What to do...?
Damn I love cannabis! Very beautiful plant you have there.

My recommendation is to just leave it alone and let her show you how these things grow. Don't make the beginners mistake of messing with it or overdoing things until you get a little more experience.

Leave it out, let it flower, and don't touch it unless it gets too large or its time to harvest.

I very much like that idea. Just in the last couple of dayss it has really changed. In the next couple of days I'm expecting the "topped" area to start looking pretty crazy and very active. I'm excited to share pictures!

one last thing...how will I know when to harvest?

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to bring my plant inside pretty soon. I'm growing more and more nervous about my neighbours and it just isn't worth the risk. What would be the least expensive/most effective setup for me to transfer this inside? As you can see from the thread this "grow" has been pretty bare-bones up to this point and I don't plan on changing that at the moment, so I'm not looking for the most state of the art setup, just what I NEED for now to keep this plant healthy and growing/flowering indoors.

Here's a little update for anyone interested. I've asked a few questions without replies so I'm hoping some new pictures will inspire some answer???

You will be A- OK, if you can set up the biggest and brightest CFL bulb you can find to bring it indoors for supplemental light cycle growth.
Make certain that you provide your little girl with twelve hours of uninterrupted darkness....give her as much natural sunlight as you feel comfortable with...
You will enjoy some buds in about 50 to 60 days from now...June 1st harvest estimate...good work!

thanks! If I end up being able to leave it outside, should I just let it grow without interruption? Do I do anything other than occasional watering and just watching it grow? And will it take about the same amount of time before harvest? (June 1st estimate)

some more pictures I took this morning:

I'm kind of confused as to why you would mix soil brands, Lambert makes an organic potting mix, literally 3 shelves down from where you got that Vigoro at your local Home Depot.... it's always best to match mediums as close as possible. Vigoro is considered a "hot" soil which means it has nutrients already inside the mix. Lambert's soil mix comes as just a base soil with no nutrient value, which in my opinion is better, because it gives you more control over feeding.

I would say mostly because this is the first time in my life I've ever planted any kind of plant so I don't know exactly what I'm doing. I think it's a little late in the game for me to change this plants soil, so is there something else you would advise me to do? I will, however, use a base soil brand when I plant more seeds, but I'll need some advice on how/when to provide food for the plants.

If you leave it outside it is going to revert to vegetative growth.
The plant will cease flowering and then start to simply veg until probably late August or so. It will get much bigger.
You should then harvest around Nov 1 or late Oct.

Now, if you can begin moving it indoors, or anyplace it can receive 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness, then you will have harvest-able buds on or about June 1.
