First grow, first build, how am i doing?

I've recently acquired a beautiful rosewood cabinet and i thought what better to do with it than turn half into a secret grow room. I've been an avid smoker for some time and have always taken an interest in the cultivation of canabis. Its always daunted me making my own grow as it seemed very complex with so many variables and factors you have to cater for, however after a lot of reading and research it didn't sound that complex anymore so why not?

I've mainly signed up to this forum to acquire help and build my knowledge on such a vast subject but feedback on my cabinet wether negative or positive will be greatly appreciated. I do have a couple of questions so far that would be great if they're answered,

1. I've mounted my ScrOG net at what i believe will be a suitable height but will there be enough room in the top space to fit the colas without them being too close to the light i will be fitting?

2. In the space i have would you expect my grow area to exceed the ideal growing temperatures and if so how would i be able to resolve this problem?

3. Would you recommend that i should change anything i've done so far with my build, if so what?

Since the pictures I've just posted i have taken the ScrOG net apart and started to paint the interior of the cabinet white, once i have achieved a nice finish after multiple coats and sanding i will be lining the cabinet with mylar. I have intentions of installing an oscillating fan, extraction fan accompanied by a filter, 600w hps with reflector, i will have temperature gauges and humidity gauges is there anything I'm missing?

Here are some pictures of the cabinet from start to present,

If anyone viewing the thread is on a similar journey to mine and needs help with anything i've accomplished so far, I'm more than willing to help, just send me a message! And anyone willing to help me feel free!

Hey,it doesent sound bad at all, for the cola dilemma, it depends on how big the cabinet actually is, if you give me some dimensions I could tell you, but you also have to remember that those hps needs to be like 4ft away from the tops or it can cause burning, especially a 600w and also because of that yes you will end up fighting rising temperatures, the fans you plan too install may do the trick depending on how efficient they are but its all really about how close the light is and how big the cabinet is, if the fans alone don't work you can try to put in a additional fan to run over the bulb to help cool it down as well

33" Height, 23" Width 15" Depth, would you recommend i used a different lighting for this setup to conserve space and keep the heat down? I'm down for all changes and options if they're beneficial, I've been looking at LEDs are they worth the extra money to conserve space?

I've also just encountered my first problem, the extract fan along side filter has arrived but it is huge! So if i were to place it inside the cabinet it would take up a very large amount of space which i believe i need for the lighting.

Looks good
You may want to lower the screen a bit, we'll see once I see your pots in the cab.

I mainly put the ScrOG net up at that height to build it and test it would work how i would want it too, its been taken down since as I'm painting the cabinet being the lining of Mylar, but i'll post a picture once I've got my pots and see which height you would recommend!

Hey, yea I would definitely go for a better low heat light source, LEDs are good And yea for the extra price they're worth it just make sure you get the right kind for veg/ flower, and with LEDs you won't need that big fan for air and to keep it cool, just like a basic desk fan or two could get the job done. A lot of people put them down and there definitely not as good as leds or hids but if your on a budget you can go with cfls they're perfect for small grows And put out Almost no heat whatsoever

I've had a little look into LEDs but still very new to this subject so I'm going to do some more research, from what i can tell though there is many low quality rip offs mainly from china and those simply just selling party lights described as efficient for growing however they're far from it. Do you have any recommendations for a LED set up for a cabinet of my size? will i need two different or are they Duel? What kind of brands shall i look into for such a product?

I've been looking at the mars hydro LEDs, what are your opinions on these? they seem to be a fairly decent price.

Thank you very much, the process of the build is going to slow up in recent weeks due to extra work commitments but I am very sure i will be purchasing an LED for my build.

Nice, you'll have to tell me how it goes I plan on getting some too

Definitely post more pics with led and and grow underneath!!!! Gnarly reminds me of a cabinet grow I had back in 02 I used 2, 250 hps tho had to put 440cfm fan in with a 300cfm out wasnt very quiet. Led wont have such heat issues should turn out great make sure you ventilate in such small space it will be totally worth it!!!!!!!!
