cause there is most likely a thread on here about the subject you have posted
isnt that what this place is about? about talking with others and learning what and how ppl have changed the way they grow from then to now???
what they do diff. what rookie mistakes everyone has made?? bc we have all made them even you......

sometimes i think that this place is fill with right wing republicans not peace loving helpful growers who are whiling to lend an ear or helpful word of advise....

ditching a strain after only one grow would be a rash choice i guess i hear alot about one person loving a strand and another hating it, over pruning eh? something other then topping i havent dont yet but also good to know

The over pruning was on a mostly sativa
In flower they freaked out.
So I would have to say starting with a super finicky strain was a bad idea as well. I have since tried the same strain
With very little success. It was a 90/10
One day I may try again

I am nearing the end of my first grow, so it is a little to early for me to say what worked and what didn't, but in case anyone is interested, my notes to myself for next grow based on my observations this time are:

1) CFL Tweaking- Instead of having a mix of 2700K/5500K/6500K in a 3:1:1.5, ratio, use only 2700K/6500K in 1:1 or 2:1 ratio BECAUSE
a) Buds near the 2700K seem to grow bigger and faster, but have more inter-nodal spacing
b) Buds near the 6500K seem to have a higher density of trichomes and tighter inter-nodal spacing
c) Buds near the 5500K seem to lag behind in both size and trichomes, and have more inter-nodal spacing
(SIDE NOTE: Also contemplating trying 2100K lights which seem to be a roughtly 3:1 ratio of red-blue in one light)

2) Grow Box - Better to spend more time preparing than makeshift scrambling, because it is much harder to re-design the box in the middle of growing.

3) Soil - FFOF will account for roughly 35% of my soil next grow as opposed to 100% of my soil this grow, the remaining 65% will be divided between Light Warrior, Perlite, and a few amendments (Azomite, Myco, etc.)

4) Nutes - Still undecided as to what course I will take next grow, this grow was done organic and I ran into early nute burn and mid-late deficiencies. Will either add in synthetics or adjust feeding schedule, while combating the early burn by using a different soil composition (As the burn happened without me adding any nutes to the soil)

5) Stick to the plan. Too much second guessing myself this grow, next time I need to be confident and decisive and thus avoid unnecessary overcompensating

Don'ts:
Over fert... under water ... over water ... believe every thing you hear/read... make radical changes [more than one per week]...

Do:
'Water Through'... let dry a bit between waterings...learn... read.... Know that the Fukk up you make today will show on your plant next week...

there are many more do's and don't read is a do... don't argue with someone over their opinion... Do ask specific questions...

get a 600w instead of a 400w because after your first grow you will want a 600w. Cheap digital ballasts can fuck with tv reception, radio reception and internet reception (rf interference) Growing indoors with no aircon is hard when its 35 c outside. Pests such as fungus gnats are an unexpected issue for a newb. Get a couple of fem seeds to start cus your very first plant will be a male. If you tell one single person about your new hobby, most of the city will know by sunset. That's about all :)

First grow.
Don't listen to bullshit. Make mistakes and learn from them.
Personally I am veg'ing for an extremely long time.
Buy a 600W or 1000W HPS.
