So... finally got my act together and started to put together all the stuff I read about building grow boxes. There is A LOT!
So, about a week after our seeds arrived (from the Joint Doctor, best place to go for autoflowering babies) we gathered enough cash for our growbox. We got all the materials for the box from B&Q (a DIY superstore) and all the other equipment from the local growshop and computer shops.

The box measures 100x60x60, not the most inconspicuous size but small enough to pass off as a little table or something.
We built the boxes by constructing a solid frame from 1"x2" planks. This was then attached to a base of thick chipboard on top and bottom. Finally, three thinner hardboard sheets were sealed into place to make it light-tight and a door was mounted using a prodigious amount of ducktape!

There are holes for an intake and output fan (80mm and 90mm, respectively) and for the wires to lead out neatly - all sealed of course. The output fan is covered by a small carbon filter (similar to this classic guide: https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/101248-best-diy-ez-walmart-carbon.html).

The walls are all coated in diamond mylar (the best reflective surface EVER) and everything that couldn't be mylar-ed was given several coats of brilliant white paint.

For the lighting, we each have a 125W ecobulb in a reflector hood (we didn't feel too enthused about having lots of little ones, one big mother looks infinitely cooler). This dumps out something like 8k lumens - so more lighting might be necessary later in the grow.

The seeds were germinated using the standard kitchentowel method, and all broke out within 24 hours when covered and kept under the lights to keep them somewhere near 30*C. They were then put into well soaked soil (Bat Mix Special). After another 24 hours they had all pierced the soil and opened their leaves - a good sign.
It's the fourth day of growing now and they are all looking strong. They are rotated around the grow box once a day to keep the light distribution even and I cannot wait for the crop to be done! :) Lowryder's can take about 8 weeks so fingers crossed I'll have a harvest for christmas!!

Unfortunately, my housemate has gone away and taken his camera with him. But pictures of the grow box being built and the little plants themselves will be following shortly! :) They will also be named when he gets back :)

:joint: Toke up. Thanks for reading.
