First grow - CFL stealth box

Why don't you cut the male balls ? Maybe it was just a coincidence but I cut the balls out of one plant and it didn't really grow any more balls. The worse that could happen would be more balls growing isn't it ? pity it grew balls anyway, the grow looks good ;)

Thanks for the advice lince, I might give that a try since I don't have access to any other seeds at the moment and I would have nothing to lose. I might just do some stuff like topping the plant or maybe trying LST, just for the experience so when I get some good seeds I know a bit more than I would have if I just trashed the plant.

Will do, I have been removing them whenever I see them. Today after work I'm going to put the clones somewhere else so that I can start 12/12 and not worry about the 24 hour light from the clones messing that up. Gonna try and get my hands on some chronic seeds from serious seeds.

Plant is starting to look kinda sick. The bottom fan leaves are getting these dried out brown areas all over and the canopy is getting really yellow around the edges of the leaves.

The brown dry leaves.

The leaves with yellow edges.

I went ahead and trimmed most of the leaves on the bottom since they weren't getting much light, and I didn't want the plant wasting resources on them. I tested the PH of the soil and it is slightly acidic, maybe between 6 and 6.3, so the next time I water it I'll do it with straight tap water which in my area is slightly alkaline and see if that helps. Anyone with any advice or that can tell what is wrong with my plants from the pics please let me know.

I think you got it right p00p, probably a ph problem and deficient of ca and mg as dirtfree sayd but I'd add potassium.

First thing is to fix the ph as you are planning to do and never before the ph is correct, add some fertilizer NPK 1x-1x-1x with secondary nutrients (which are mg and ca). Probably any fertilizer for veg with secondary nutrients would be ok.

Switched to 2700k lights and threw it into 12/12 two days ago. Tons of balls showing up everywhere. I got some epsom salt and added it to the nute solution and foliar fed it some today before the lights went off, so we'll see if that helps. I also think it might have a zinc def as well since the new growth is really little compared to what it was before and the leaves are much thinner. Posted a question about how much chelated zinc I should use in the nute thread so I know how much to add tomorrow.

Thinking of throwing in the towel on this plant. The edges are still yellow, balls everywhere, and now the leaves are starting to curl downwards so the look like funky little claws or something. It's impossible to find any decent nutes or soil testing equipment here as well.

sucks about the hermie deal.... i would bet money that if you're watering with "tap water" that is your problem. tap water has too many minerals and chemicals and in turn blocks out what is necessary for the plant regardless of your ph levels... use purified water at the least, if you can pick up a reverse osmosis system or even just the PUR or Brita jug filters. if you have decent soil, you don't need any nutes to grow, just GOOD water!

Yeah, I am using tap water, and it is most definitely shit. I'll give it a go with bottled water maybe.

Check your local grocery store or wal-mart. I get reverse osmosis water for $0.37 a gallon out of a machine that processes it then and there. You just need to bring the containers.

well, since I live out in the middle of nowhere (not in US or Europe) and don't have access to any of that, I'm just going to go with bottled water. I finally found some ph meters today as well. Looks like my ph is pretty low ( between 5 and 6), so I'm going to try to raise it with some baking soda. I also think my plant is getting to big for the small pot I have it in, so I moved it to a bigger pot today. Hope this improves the condition of the plants cause they are looking really sad right now.

Maybe a dumb question but, why not keep the male going and use the seeds that it will produce. This way you can start over with the strain that you are looking for.

Well, thanks to everyone who stopped by and gave me advice, but I just went ahead and chopped the plants. Finally got some PH testers and found out that the PH was crazy low. Once I started flowering light cycle it shot up to almost 3 feet, but it was really thin and unhealthy looking. If it was female I would have done something, but since it was a hermie, it wasn't worth the trouble. I'm going to get some more seeds and use the experience and knowledge I gained from doing this and hopefully it will turn out better. On the plus side all the clones I took turned out ok, but axed them too since they weren't female.

well done p00p, probably the best you could do ;) let us know when you start the new grow so we can follow it. Did you already decide which strain(s) you want to grow ?

Too bad you didn't get anything out of her. I've had problems with hermies also (mainly due to heat stress). I need to pick up a pH meter also. I found out a few weeks ago that R.O. water tends to have a low pH which could be why I have been getting random nute deficiency indicators. Distilled water has a neutral pH so I switched to that. It is just more expensive.
