Hello,
Thank you in advance for helping me through this process.
Ok I am remodeling a deep freezer i was given a few years back. ( if they only knew how happy their gift is gonna make me!) I have stripped the freezer of all its componets. The Inside mesurements are 20" deep x 28" wide x 57" tall. Right know i was going to buy one of these lights:
High Tech Garden Supply

I need to know which one would you guys recommend. And also can i mount the light stationary at the top behind glass?
Attached are two pics of the freezer

Thanks

depends but i'd go with a 600 just cause it has the most lumens per watt and you can't really fit anything bigger

i would choose the 400 for sure.... and the answer to the second part depends. Yes, you could mount it at the top above a piece of glass, BUT, you would have to ventilate that top area where the light is to keep it cool, otherwise buzzkill. Something like a PC fan would be necessary to constantly pull cool air in and maybe another fan to send hot air out. In fact, the lower area would have to be ventilated as well to keep it cool, otherwise anything inside would burn up from the heat.....unless you are plannning on leaving the door open on the freezer. look for info on the affects of temperature on your plants. temp regulation is a big deal. Your setup could work if you can overcome those issues.

So if sealed the top portion with glass. And i Rigged an intake and
exhaust. Would A small pc fan move enought air to cool the light?
Or would i need to rig a bigger fan on a dimmer switch to control the temp?
And let me ask this Do i Even need to seperate the light from the plant in this box?

you don't need to seperate to make it work..... just rigging the light in the top will work. You will still need ventilation in unit as a whole. Temps ranging from 72 to 78 degrees inside the freezer will work best and to acheive this, you can not have the unit in a garage for exampe, that is 90 plus degrees in summer or below 60 degrees in the winter. The fans will just pull that hot air in and assist the bulb in burning everything. Cold temps not good either. The dimmer switch will not be necessary because the only way to control the temp in the freezer is to control the temp in the room that the freezer is going to stay in. It will need to be in a room with an air conditioning system during the summer. the freezer is very well insulated by default, so you will have to play around with the temps a bit. You will definitely need a thermometer inside there to monitor things. good luck.

Thank you Mustard, I plan on putting the freezer in the garage. But the corner it is sitting in is also the wall to my laundry room ( which is air conditioned ) I guess i will draw air throught the wall from the house and exhaust underneath somehow. I also plan to put a hydro resivoir where the commpressor was. I will keep you guys posted.
