First Grow - autofems outdoor.

Hi everyone,

So I planted my first ever seeds on the 1st of Oct (morning) for an outdoor grow. Details as follows;

1) 4 Nirvana autofem Northern Light & 3 Dutch Passion autofem Durban Poison.
2) 11ltr (3gal) smart pots with party cups where seeds were planted directly.
3) About 75% universal potting soil & 25% perlite in smart pots (a little more perlite in party cups).
4) Outdoor poly-tunnel tent.
5) Water used pH 6-6.5.

The biggest issue for me was knowing how much water to use in the party cups for the first 11 days. Its hard to tell how moist the soil is with all the perlite in such a small cup . Day 11 (from seed) was the first time I watered around them into the pot with about 900ml of water (another 270ml of water inside the cups)...I think this was maybe too much as I hear auto's don't like much water. Haven't watered since day 11. Today is day 14 & will upload some new pics tom hopefully.

The weather is Mediterranean but will deteriorate soon of course especially towards December so I don't expect much from these plants...will nonetheless be interesting to see the results. In any case its been enjoyable so far & I hope it serves as a good learning process for future grows. One last point is that I need to harvest by day 78...if they survive that long of course!

Any help or comments are most welcome.

Day 15 (early)
Slightly concerned about 2 or 3 that seem to be lagging behind. Haven't watered since day 11(early) & will try to leave it until day16 (evening) even though the soil's quite dry. They should start flowering soon but to me they seem quite small just now...its hard to imagine they'll finish in 70-80 days at this rate. Planning to add nutes (floraseries) on or after day 21 which hopefully will boost growth up a bit. Its a race against time my friends & the clock is ticking!

Can anyone tell me if they're growing OK 15 days from seed or might there be a problem?

Cheers for the input buddy, im glad it's positive for now . Weather should be OK for a while longer & welcome to the forum...hope you find everything you need here.

Day18 (early).
Watered this morning after 7days between 500ml & 1ltr depending on size. The grow seems to be going OK so far but there's a couple of NLs still huffin & puffin (lagging) & I don't know why exactly...they sprouted 1 or 2 days later but I think they should have grown a bit bigger, maybe overwatered them slighly at the start but im pretty sure ive been using the same amount for all of them up until now.. ideas anyone?

Looking nice and clean bro some just lag behind i had one last grow was half the size of the others and didn't wait for it to catch up and just flowered it anyway only got about a oz and a half off her but was better then nothing was going to throw her out but had room in the corner of the tent so a oz and a half is better the nothing

I myself am trying autos this time hope
They turn out alright they were free so can't complain

Anyway I'm high so im out good grow I'll be watching

Day25

Watered this morning between 750ml & 1.25Ltr depending on size. Also fed some aggressive veg nutes from FloreSeries at 0.25% recommended strength. Seems to be going alright apart from the two smallest ones! 3 are shown pistils (2xDP & 1xNL) I think since Day 21 & 23 . Weather's not the best but thats expected. Still need to harvest by day 78 or earlier so hoping they manage to finish by then.

Day32

Watered again between 750ml & 1.25Ltr depending on size with aggressive veg nutes (FloraSeries) at 1/4 strength. Will start flower nutes next week day 39. Seems OK except for a couple of small one's...they started showing their little pistils on day 29/30. Humidity is an issue, goes from one extreme to the other where I am.

Day39

The cover on my outdoor tent blew off in the early morning of day 38 because of gale force winds...gust speed of 98km! So while I was sleeping my ladies were exposed to the elements & were battered. Some were really bent as if I super cropped them! anyhow the tent is more secure now & im grateful the plants weren't destroyed. Watered again this morning 1& 1.25ltr using 1/4 strength flora series (transition to bloom stage).

At day 40 on my auto (outdoor as well) I gave mine its first full strength bloom result and the 2 more feeds of bloom twice in the next 4 weeks thereafter it went from this to the second pic...day 40 and day 68....your going well I never done mine in ideal outdoor conditions either

Thanks Ruby, would be great if all mine would quadruple in size like yours after adding full bloom nutes which i'll start on day 46. Some of the NLs are small though , not sure if its just genetics or an error on my part. In any case im happy with these auto's & will do them again in a few months. I have more of the same seeds so will be interesting to see the difference when growing with more sun. Will probably do some photo's as well. Peace out

id do a half strength feed once before day 46 then on 40-45 maybe try a full strength?im only a beginner other ppl know a lot more than I ever could about autos

Plants seems to be going alright although I had a bit of a scare a few days ago when I found hundreds of black ants between the smart pots...I think they were feasting on something but don't know what, many were carrying some tiny white residue that looked liked perlite. I asked them to leave nicely which they did & haven't seen any since so I don't think they're nesting.

In any case I watered earlier between 1 & 1.25ltr full flower stage now...increased the nutes by a little & added KoolBloom as well. Watering once a week seems to be OK with these auto's.

I had the ants and the white things they were carrying under one of my chilli pots ...once I moved the pot they didnt like it a pissed off altogether...wonder if it was eggs or something they were carrying they work together with caterpillers I think ...

Day53

Nothing to report except watered again between 1 & 1.25Ltr & increased the flowering nutes by a little.

Day60.

Had an issue with spider mites & a white fly a few days ago on one of the DPs! I concocted some home made insecticide with corn oil, soap & apple vinegar. Seems to have halted them just now so not worried at all. Next time i'll have neem oil etc ready for these pests.

Watered this morning again beween 1 & 1.25Ltr & increased the flowering nutes a bit. When do you think I can harvest? Its unfortunate cause im travelling abroad in less than 2weeks so a good friend will be harvesting in my place when ready...but he has no clue about MJ so I need to tell him what day & what plants.
