First grow, Auto BB and Grapefruit Krush

Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster.

This is my first grow. I have experience growing outdoor flowers (roses, hydrangeas, lavender, etc), but never thought to try MJ inside. I'm not looking for big yields or anything crazy and intricate, I just wanted to try my hand at growing my own medicine.

I'm growing in a cupboard under the stairs in my basement, currently using 3 65w (actual) CFL bulbs. Both seeds germinated in 2 days from jiffy peat pellets that I kept damp next to a heat register. So far, the Auto Blueberry is on day 17 from seed, and the Grapefruit Krush is on day 9 from seed.

They are growing in espoma cactus/citrus mix, no added nutes (at least, not yet). So far, I'm pretty pleased with their progress. I can't wait for the BB to be done so I've got something while I wait for the grapefruit.

Hi everyone, a short update.

The plants are still growing strong and green. Blueberry has started to flower, and Grapefruit is growing slowly but surely.

(only one picture, because the Blueberry is more exciting lately. :))

Well, the Auto Blueberry was harvested almost 1 week ago. It seemed to finish off pretty early, if I remember DP's site estimated about 10 weeks, but I barely made it to 8. The plant yielded about 1/3 oz which is about what I expected since I didn't use any nutrients. Used the trimmings to make some butter for the first time. Note: don't eat a cookie for breakfast on an empty stomach before work. I thought I could get away with it since it was Friday and I thought it'd be an easy day, except shit hit the fan early on and I of course had the hardest time trying to concentrate and look like I could understand the words coming out of peoples' mouths. That was rough. Anyway, moving on...

A month ago I invested in some FF nutes, and started feeding them slowly to the Grapefruit. Unfortunately I think she has some nitrogen toxicity (droopy-ish and dark leaves). I have flushed twice and it doesn't look like it is getting noticeably better, but at least it doesn't seem to be getting worse, so that's a win to me. I also topped twice. I didn't realize how long it's been since the last time I posted to this, hehe.

Something I happened to notice, after I topped, the leaves on the new shoots started appearing with 9 points instead of 7. Is this something that normally happens when you top? Since I topped the new shoots again, should I expect leaves with 11 points now? :leaf:

Oh yes, also, I started an auto Pineapple Express. I was originally planning to veg Grapefruit until the PE is done, but now I'm not so sure about letting it veg for so long. Right now, it's been almost 2 months, so I'd estimate another 2 months or more until PE is done. Any thoughts?

Another update with pics.

GK is growing all discombobulated... leaves and shoots of different sizes and lengths. Kinda weird. I am assuming it's probably stress from being topped and/or maybe the nitrogen toxicity, but who knows. Maybe she's just a mutant. :???:

Grapefruit Krush today, day 71 from seed. I am finally switching to 12/12 today. I am curious to see how she expands during flower. Looks like she's recovering well from the bout with nitrogen toxicity.

Here's the newbie Pineapple Express Auto today, day 27 from seed. She's been exploding over the past few days since she's starting to flower. So far this auto is WAY ahead of where the Blueberry Auto was when it started to flower!

And here's one of the happy family together.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

More progress pics today. GK finally started blooming, and she's still growing well. She's recovered from N toxicity. I couldn't be happier with the progress.

This Pineapple Express Auto is just nuts. The Blueberry Auto doesn't compare in size at all. I can really see the difference between nutes and no nutes. They are both growing 12/12 because I didn't want to veg GK anymore and I've only got one room for growing, so I might not get a great yield, but it's already blowing past the blueberry in terms of yield.

Another update today. GK is no more. The day after my last update, I had to put it down because it hermied. I couldn't salvage anything and was not interested in seeds. Well, it was an interesting learning experience.

However, Pineapple Express is almost done. I'm just waiting for the trichomes to look cloudy. I'm not sure my magnifying lens is strong enough, so it might be tricky. Here are some photos from this morning. Maybe some of you might have an idea how much longer? :) The calyxes are still swelling daily. I'm so pleased with how this one is turning out! The blueberry, which was my first pant, does not even compare in terms of production.
