Title says it all. I'm open to any and all suggestions, so please lemme know what you think.

I will say right off that I have had PH issues from day one, but I think I have it dialed in finally since the last 2 waterings. Still not perfect but doable.

Also, I have been having heat issues ever since the sun came out this year and I turned on my 400w MH (using a MH 3000k bulb). Highest its been in the closet has been 95 degrees. I have managed to get the temps somewhat stable @ 80-85 degrees with only a few hours a day @ 90 degrees when its really hot out.

Bagseed-
The first 2 pics are my 4 plants.
3rd pic is the dankest of them all so far. Each cola is nice a frosty.
4th pic is a top view to give yall a look at the leaves. Pay no attention to the meter :) A bit haggard, I know. Like I said, open to suggestions.

Completely newb and a lil ghetto.

I'm hoping the buds will start to fill out these last weeks.

Welcome Misohi
Plants are looking nice.

Have you thought about switching your 12/12 to where the lights are on at night.
If you have no light leaks this would work and get your temps down.
The temps should be in the 70's (70-79).
You should have good intake and exhaust fans.

Air circulation and temps are as important as light and nutes.

Happy growing

ph strips are more accurate then those meters, and digi's clown em both. great job, the heat will cause the buds to be whispy so get it taken care of before you get further along. if propper ventilation doesnt do it then A/C. if you do switch the light to be on at night which is very good advise, just leave the light off for 24h then start it on 12/12 again. but you do want to get it taken care of eventually, while it will work you are losing out on the advantages of the cold temps at night and tricome development wont be as great. but def doable, some strains like sativas dont mind the heat. and warm nights

Thanks for advice guys.

I have switched to nights. Its been a few weeks now. I have managed to keep the temps more closer to the 80 mark, but theres a few hours when the lights first turn on where temps can get to 90s.

I'm a renter, so drilling holes in the walls isn't an option. I think I will buy another door and drill some vent holes in that on my next grow. This is bagseed, so I'm not too worried if temps get a bit high or if I tend to burn them. As long as I don't do it too bad, I'll be happy. Mainly a learning exp for me.

I will eventually get a digital ph tester absolutely, but in the mean time I figure the meter and the ph drops tester will have to do. I'll work on my temp problem first.

So, anyone think these buds will fatten up in the following weeks?

absolutley, they will swell the last week like crazy, use molasses if not already. buying a new door is a great idea. hid's heat can get outa control. i live in cali and it gets HOT.

Just coming up on week 6 of flower.

You are right sk3tch3, my buds are starting to fatten up nicely.

These set of pics are of my first place winner in the category of "early finisher". I'm guessing I have another week and then I can harvest to top colas. I actually took a sample from 2 lower, slightly underdeveloped buds. Actually, I've been taking samples since the 4th week of flower and have been stoned ever since :) Pictures don't do these buds justice. These guys are so sticky, its like touching corn syrup. And they smell like cherry PEZ candy, very fruity.

Out of 4 plants from bagseed, its looking like I have 2 different strains. I am planning on re-vegging the better of each strain and this girl looks like a future mother. She finishes early, gives nice bud and has the genetics for a possible ScrOG experiment. I only topped her once and she has 11 top cola sites.

Things are starting to get exciting around here ... its like X-mas in spring.

Don't worry too much about the digital Ph meter. The kits you can buy for about 15$ do a great job and have none of the downsides to the digital meters that require solutions, spare parts, membranes dry up- very expensive for only moderate increase in convenience. Of course if you have money to burn, then there are many digis that are great for about 100-300$.

google " general hydroponics Ph test+correction kit " - very reliable, fairly inexpensive. Safe for your plants.

Thanks for the heads up.

I've been eye'ing a few on eBay for around 35$. They're made by Hanna.

Tonight I flushed with about 2 gallons of water and then added my water/nute mix. I'm using all organic nutes, so its not absolutely necessary to flush before harvest. Or so I hear. After I harvest the top third of the plant, I'm planning on seeing what I can get out of the middle third then re-veg the lower third. I may do an all out flush during the middle third part and just use water for a few waterings before I re-veg.

Here are some money shots :) The first three are of the 'early finisher'. The fourth is a shot of the runner up which has another few weeks to go.

have you checked the trichomes with a magnifier? looks like you may have a little longer than 1 week left. very nice

I have been looking. I'm not sure how long it takes for them to go from cloudy to amber. I have a few milking up now, so I was hoping in a week they would be ready. I am going to try to cut them when the trichs are just starting to turn amber.

i tend to harvest 2-3 days late, maybe even almost a week late if it is a sative dominate strain, the high you get from buds harvested at different times are... different. earlier - more heady, later -more couch lock. 2-3 days after mostly amber, are you using a flush agent?

I have 11 tops on that girl, so I think I'll space the cutting out from starting to amber to mostly amber. Finish up at that 2-3 days after mostly amber time. See what is best for this strain.

No flushing stuff used except for when I feed, I usually flush 2 liters of straight water before I add the nutes/water. I've read that you don't really need to flush when using organics.
