WAIT A MINUTE!!! BOVEDA IS NOT SILICA GEL!!!!

IT DOES EXACT THE OPPOSITE. BOVEDA HUMIDIFIES, WHEREAS SILICA GEL DEHUMIDIFIES. Boveda has liquid inside. It's not those little balls of silica. I've already explained how it works, though. I DON'T want my crop to dry too quickly during the curing process. I want the RH inside the curing jar to be at 65% as long as possible before lowering the RH again to 55% for long term storage. Maybe then some people would need silica gel IF the ambient RH is much higher than 55%, like in Thailand...

Heheh, no prob. It does look like one of those silica gel packs... Every time I open the jar, especially the Purple Kush smells AMMMMAZING!

Great grow dude wow!!!! I'm aiming for the exact same yield with those amounts of plants and lights, what do you think you'll do differently to better your yield next time around?

Thanks, man. I'd probably use coco/perlite if not hydro. I'll use exactly the same lighting system (T5 + HPS) and possibly the same line of nutes (Fox Farm), although I really don't think CoolTube should be used again. I should look into other air-cooled light fixture. I'd love to try air pot instead of regular. I'd veg a little longer and make improvements in my training system and pruning (important!) so that each cola receives good amount of light penetration. with much fewer popcorn buds. Hmmm, what else? And lots lots of little and subtle things.... I'm choosing a strain(s) to grow now. Good luck on your grow!

Dunno.... After I said it, I've been reading a lot about hydro/bubble/DWC/aero, etc... Much appreciated if any of you throw out your inputs on hydro in context of using the small space (2'x4') as efficiently as possible? Does it yield better than soil/coco per sq ft, in weight, density, flavor, potency?

I've been dumping out the buds of out of the jars almost once a day, especially PK top colas, because the RH inside the jar spiked up to 72%. After letting these guys in and out of the jars, the RH for the most of jars have been stable at 65% finally today. If you are using Boveda Humidipak, you will need to bring the RH to just around 65% +/- a few % even without the Humidipak, so you know. It doesn't really dry out wet buds or anything. Just smoked the little dust of hairs and kief that was on the brown paper. OMG, Dream Star has got to be one of the most uplifting and euphoric strains ever. Thank you, Oaksterdam Nursery!

That's Purple Kush top colas on the brown paper

Thanks, kev! My head is filled with so many ideas and possibilities for my second grow while these buds deepen the flavor and aroma in those jars... It's amazing how it's better every day.

Oh wow. I do love Ambien... Maybe I should set an ounce of buds aside in a smaller jar with the Humidipak and let it cure and age to perfection.

That'd be an interesting project. I'll hide the jar when I'm really stoned so I can't find it till years later.

Ah! Awesome. I see your point. That's why I chose soil for my first grow. I just dumped the soil out of the pots today and examined before it went to dumpster. The root system was much smaller than I thought. Absolutely no roots touching the bottom or sidewalls of the 5 gal square pot. I shouldn't have used such big sized pots. Feel like I wasted tons of soil. The health of soil seemed pretty good though. No clogging or signs of souring. I've been reading on soil vs hydro. There are so many pros and cons to consider. I think one of the reasons why the flavor and aroma and even the potency of my crop seems so much deeper and more intense than the ones I find at dispensaries is that I used soil instead of hydro. But I've read about the explosive growth in coco, too. Another theme of my grow is about the efficiency in space and energy usage, so if I can shorten the veg time for the same or more yield, that would be very welcome. Maybe I can come up with the hybrid version of coco/soil. Hmmm...
