So I have been germinating some beans I got from Attitude since 3/2 and they finally popped!

I used Rapid Rooters and just dipped them in my tap water (40ppm, 7.1 ph) and firmly squeezed.
Then into my ghetto humidity dome (no stores around me have them in stock yet). I used the
bottom of a tupperware shoe box, a cheap seedling tray/cover, 50w aquarium heater and 2 cfls.
The box is to maintain some heat and it sits at a pretty 81* The taller one is Sour Blueberry, small
one is Power Africa. They showed their heads this AM and now growin fast!

Here's my set-up that some of you may have seen already (thanks for everyone who gave me advice):
4x4x6 (scrog grow)
400cfm vortex fan
8x8" & 6x6" Passive Intake
6" aircooled hood
Veg: 400w MH
Flower: 400w HPS
(2) 5-gal DWC buckets
3" netpots
hydroton
45w 53lpm air pump

GH Flora Series
GH Calimagic
GH pH Up & Down

I also ran a dedicated 20A circuit and mounted ballast and pump on outside of cab.
Temps in cab running constant 68*, can put back of my hand on light glass and is cool to touch.

I'll take some pics tomorrow after I transfer to netpots/hydroton.

Just moved seddlings to their dwc's! Water is at 40ppm, 5.8ph. Cab temp is 68*. Light is about 8" above them w no heat issue whatsoever. Should I add cal/mag? Or is it a "wait and see" thing?

i would not add any nutrients to those yet. those are seedlings. in the future you might hold off from putting them into the dwc buckets until you have established them a little further. good luck.

They should be fine just top feed em by hand water only. I start in hydroton and rockwool and hand feed until rooted then turn pumps on

are you guys talking about air pumps? i wouldnt turn your air off. just make sure your water level is an inch or so below the net pot if you're gonna leave em in there. like i said i prefer to get couple sets of leaves on seedlings before turning them loose myself, but i'm sure you'll be ok leaving them in there as long as you keep the hydroton moist.

Hey Tree, welcome to RIU! The way i handle sprouting seeds into DWC is i keep the water level half an inch below the netpot so it sprays the shit out of the hydroton, no hand watering required. I also use rapid rooters.

I also dont add nutes at that stage either, sometimes a droplet of the grow nute

Alright sounds good. so far growth seems to have slowed to a crawl. I am germing a few more beans just incase

Ok guys, so I know is been a week since I update but its bc I was waiting for something interesting to happen.

The Blueberry seems to be nice and healthy, while the Power Africa seems to be unhappy. Leaves are curling down (see pic) and tips of leaves are yellow/dryer. Any ideas?

pH'd tap water (5.8)
80ppm
rez temp = 65*F
cab temp = 68*F
400w metal hallide, 18/6, hanging 2-ft above top of plants, and dimmed (via ballast)

I have GH CaliMagic, AquaShield and SuperThrive (I havent used any yet). Although I am wondering if it is a cal/mag deficiency?

Here's pics of the two girls:

Hmm that was supposed to read 5.8. Humidity is 40-45%. If that's too low, how would I go about raising it? I have a 400cfm vortex running for 15 min, every other 15 min. And a small 6" fan blowing 24/7

5.8 should be good. i prefer higher humidity and temperature than what you're at for clones and seedlings. you could have your vortex come on less frequently. i like to keep em in the humidity dome until they're further along because its so much easier to control the conditions.

What exactly do you do for germ procedure and humidity dome? I get good roots coming, then they just seem to stall and never get past first set of true leaves

i have done all kinds of germ techniques (paper towel, straight water, rockwool, peat mix) and they all work fine. i recently bought some feminized herbei seeds from sannies and they sent me this little tray, so thats what i used. 8 herbei seeds and 2 cali connect larry og inside a humidity dome. once i saw the tap coming out the bottom of the tray i transplanted into cups of sunshine 4 and perlite. i'll let them get a couple sets of leaves in the dome before removal. i understand that you are using rapid rooters and then transplanting to hydroton filled net cups. what you could do is stack your rapid rooter on top of a rock wool cube to extend your rootzone in the dome. then transplant to the hydroton net cup when you have good roots coming out the bottom.
