First few times running terpenator mkIII, have a quick question.

So durring one of my runs yeaterday, I opened the collection pot to see my extract all over the sides, and metal tubing from the dump column. It was extremely hard and sticky, like semi dried glue. But shattered when pressure was applied. It was incredibly hard to get out of the collection pot. Is this normal? Or did I do something wrong?

never ran that particular machine, but I do have a few runs under my belt with a couple different systems and I am almost positive you didn't flow enough solvent through the material to make sure it washed it all out. that's why you have a build up from the inlet. was not flowing clear/clean when it was closed.

Two things:

When you open the vent or dump valves, do it slowly or it will splatter everything, including the lid in the capture chamber.

I prefer to recover the material in cotton candy shatter form, which is easy to remove by chilling and whisking with spatula.

To get cotton candy, leave your recovery pot out of the water bath and recover the butane at ambient temperature, though you will need to periodically dip it in the water long enough to evaporate away the ice, so as to be able to tell when the standing butane has evaporated away and it is time to turn on the high vacuum.

Remove all the standing butane with the recovery pump, turn on the high vacuum pump, and it inflates the puddle into foam, which rapidly dissipates the remaining butane due the the thin films bubble walls make.

Continue to pull high vacuum for about 10 minutes and then back fill and open the system.

Is it better to cool the collection pot down and whip it or to transfer to silicon trays by pouring it. I can remove the bottom of my collection pot to easily pour into trays.

I have a very nice vac oven as well so the trays go directly in there.

It doesn't pour once the butane is recovered.
