First DWC grow with good lights.

Hey folks. I get good information from this site so I figured what the hay I might as well share what I have going on. I have a 6x5 grow tent I made out of pvc and 2mm mylar. I'm using a 1000 watt iPower ballast and a smaller 600 watt iPower ballast. Also using 2 560 cfm fans as well as hepa filtered intake, an additional air filter and a carbon filter . It's not fancy but it's got the important stuff. I had a couple soil clones I tried that got the powdery white mildew so I had to increase air flow (air now swaps twice a minute) into the tents and rock the neem. Problem solved. These are my little ladies in the beginning of week 3 veg. Got some Dairy Queen from TGA genetics and some feminized Strawberry Kush. Both are 55 days flower. Nothing crazy here just a basic indoor DWC set up. I check my pH swing twice a day and nutrient levels once a day. My first go with hydro and I have to say I see why people like it. It's pretty easy to keep the ladies happy. I use fox farms mostly and just burn a candle in my tent for a little extra love. The flowering ones are a couple hydro Jillybean clones I picked up. I love them! They are in second week of flower. IMG_20160328_192214.jpgIMG_20160328_192133.jpg IMG_20160326_211906.jpg

Here are some of my nice white roots. I do not use any preventive measures against algea or slime as my tap water here is better than most bottled water and it has not been an issue thus far. They are super clean.

Here is another Dairy Queen. The roots are brown from the nutes building up over night. Guano and castings. I just give a shake daily and it rinses right off.

Thank you for your support guys. I cannot wait to see where this goes. If I yield at least as much as soil I'll consider my first hydro run a success. It's been like 10 years since I tried last and that was just t5's

I never really weighed it, but not great, I would say from the last successful yield the main kolas were probably 1.5 inches diameter and 5 inches long. I have only ever done super crappy set ups. Like soil with t5's. It was enough to keep me puffing but far from poundage and far from chronic. I'm hoping to get at least 12 Oz from the 2 jillybean clones. The vegging ones I am hoping I get at least the 1 gram per watt but I suspect they might go for 2 based on how well they seem to be growing. I have 5 feminized Strawberry Kush and 4 remaining unknown sex Dairy Queen plants. We shall see how many of the DQ makes it to the end. There might be lots of room in my tent in a couple weeks.

These jillybeans were actually my first, first try at hydro. They came in soil and I did a dumb thing and put them in the buckets on top of a netted pot because I was out of the nested ones... They grew into the netted pot they were sitting on. They are loving it but it is presenting issues now that they are getting heavy. I'm going to end up tying them up to the rod in the closet most likely....

Also if you wanna do soil this type if set up is pretty cheap. Join amazon plus and get the 1000watt for around $200 and I got a couple 50 foot rolls of the 5 foot wide mylar for like $70. I would use wood over pvc even if it's just the small 1x2x8. Easier to staple the mylar on than clip or tape and more sturdy. But you can't break it down as easily if needed. I used pvc from Lowe's and for 12 sticks of the 1.5 inch was like $20. You will wanna get at least 1 exhaust fan that's over 300 cfm for any set up also cheap on amazon. I went nuts and spent around $700 but that's a whole dwc set up for up to 10 plants.

Oh yes. So pretty. Beautiful kolas on that one. Go mystery seeds! I saw one site that gives a 10 seed mystery mix if you get like 6 or more. I didn't do it cause I need 100% females at the moment.
It was from bag seed shake! Man your in for a treat. I lucked out and got all females. Can't wait to see your plants man.

Super score! Haha I got a couple of those chilling that I might get to. Found a good looking "Big Wreck" seed and also a sexy "Blue City Diesel". The diesel it came from was over 27% THC. Yay shake score!

So here we have a bit of progress. I have to note that the rate of growth is better than I have ever seen in my past grows. Some of the big sun leaves are bigger than my hand. The kush were planted on 2/24 and the Dairy Queen 2/16. They all sprouted in 2 days and were in seedling stage for about 2 weeks before the roots hit nutrient water. The kush is prettier but that dq grows like a mofo. The top down pic is the dq in the center.
