First DWC grow issue

This is my first post here,so sorry if this is in the wrong section. I have an issue i havent seen before and can not find the specific terms to search for. I am using a 10 gallon rubber maid tote as my dwc container, and city tap water. Normally i fill a second container 24 hours in advance and let the an airstone run to clear the chlorine out ( very high concentrations). I always use ph down now as well( base ph is around 7.5-8). Im on week 4 going into week 5 for veg state so i added my nutes to the water as well ( General Hydro trio nutes between 1/4 and 1/2 strength).

This is only my 2nd week using nutes because frankly the plant grew perfectly fine without them until about 2 weeks ago. Now this nute change i have a large white deposit all over the bottom of the tub. I have not swapped tubs yet due to this, but im not sure what exactly it is. Ive attached a picture if anyone has any idea. Ive seen similar posts say its salt deposits but im not sure if thats correct.

Thanks for having me, and thanks for any information anyone may have.

That's weird..... How are you mixing your notes? You need to do Cali magic first, stir, then do micro, stir, then gro, stir, then bloom, stir.

I'd also recommend this chart and switching to Reverse Osmosis water for much better results. That stuff could be from your tap.Recirculating-Nutrient-Schedule-custom.jpg

I've actually been using that chart already so I'm glad I've done that right at least.

I do not have calimag because I've been using tap water. I've also been following the order listed on that chart which I believe is the same order you listed. I've dumped it out and I'm starting again but this is the first time I've seen it do that, maybe I added to much micro, that stuff seems to drip every where when pouring.

Thanks for the suggestions as well, I appreciate it!

Don't pour use pipettes.

Looks like precipitate but you said you added in the correct order.

looks like nutrients dropped out of solution. i had this problem when using a 3 part advance nutrient but once i changed to a different nutrient only a 2 part the problem stopped
not saying i have any idea on whats the problem but i feel its the micro dropping out
could just be plant poop

Fortunately I never actually had the plant in it, was just Bubbling to get the chlorine out first. I've dumped it out an refilled it now, and I'm going to be switching it to flower within the next day or so, so long as this doesn't happen again.

Cali magic is first if using RO water. Which the chart lists WRONG. SO remember if you do use RO to always add CalMag first.

If you really insist on using tap, micro, for, then bloom. Make SURE you mix VERY WELL in between each one man.

Make sure you're aerating the water FIRST BEFORE you add nutes.

Very good tip. Buy a 5ml pipette thingy. They're on Amazon and eby for like a few bucks. Search for medicine dropper.
It makes it easy because they come in 5ml size which is 1tsp.

i honestly think pre bubbling the water is a waste of time i know where i live they use chloramine not chlorine
apparently chloramine cant be removed from the water by bubbling it
i think its more important to let the water come room temp over bubbling it

You should do a water hardness test with base PH that high. If you have hard water, you will need to filter it or youre going to have a lot of issues keeping things steady.

Any easy way to tell is to get a bar of soap and try to build up a good suddy lather in your hands with it. If you can't or barely you have hard water. If you dont have a softener in your home you'll have white mineral build up around water fixtures and drains.

Whoops dude you need to bubble for AT LEAST 24 HOURS. 48-72 IS PREFERABLE.

I understand bubbling for 24 to remove chlorine, what will 3 days worth of bubbling change?

I guess I'm not understanding the reactions the nutes are having. This is the first time I've seen this build up, my current tub is crystal clear with no build up at all so I'm surprised this one did it.

OH also to those inquiring, I do have hard water, it's about 260ppm from the tap.

What is the texture of it? Looks oily to me. Salt deposits usually form a "fill line" on tubs when you flood and drain, or when you get evaporation. That looks nothing like salt buildup. Salt buildup will be exactly that...crusty salty powdery residue that doesnt like to wash off easily.

Hard water tends to contain high levels of mineral salts like Calcium and Magnesium. Its probably why your plants did ok for so long on just water, but likely whats causing your issue here.
Id recommend switching to RO or a nutrient meant for hard water.

My thought was that he's getting some kind of reaction from his water and its causing a concentrated nutrient "slurry" to drop out of the water. It looks really diluted.

It was a heavier density then the water but not oily at all( that may have just been the flash from my camera, sorry) it just sank to the bottom, it was like sediment in a pond rather then oil.
