First DWC - and it’s not promising

Aloha Folks.

got my first small dwc setup going in a 5gallon bucket.
Figure I’d try the Lucas formula from Hempy buckets in this grow method (7g maxibloom / gallon)

my air pump is an eco plus 480lpm 3w pump. I have 2 4” air stones in the bucket.

age: ~3 weeks from seed
temps run between 55°-70° (Its in a cab outside)
Ph: 6.1
Ppm: ~700

Problem: new growth is super dark green and droopy.
any knowledge, advice, or help would be super appreciated. Thank you!

Ya that’s a bit cold. Lower ppm. How’s the roots?need to keep the low temp above 60.
Thank you for your advice. I’ll try lowering the ppm.

funny thing is, I have a krakty method tub with another seedling same age and it’s looking great with no sag or dark green.

the only difference is the aeration and led lights in the cab.

but I’ll lower the ppm and see if that helps

I have 3 ppm. One for when there sick 300. When there doing ok 500 and one when there rockin 700-1000. Temp environment and light also play a roll. If those are off then I drop ppm.

Thanks for the numbers. I know it varies from strain to strain but I’ll give your numbers a try and see if she bounces back.

thanks Myke!

Definitely too cold. Get your temps up in the 70-75 range. What are you using for a light? Definitely don't need that high of nutes yet either. I would take some water out of your reservoir, and replenish with pH balanced water through the top of the net pot.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I’m using some Chinese 250w mars hydro knock off. I used it before and got nice results in a Henley bucket. The nugs weren’t dense. More airy. But it got the medicinal effect i was looking for.

I ended up putting the plant pack outside in the Kratky tub and she bounced right back.

I just threw her back inside the grow cab with the reservoir at:
250ppm
5.8ph

Will update in a couple days

Pic updates and comparison with my kratky tub plant.

can someone with experience ID the possible discolorations on my dwc plant? Tips on older leaves are a little burnt, but new growth is dark green and curling slightly.

dwc -
Ph: 5.9
Ppm: 200
Temp: 72°F
Light: cheap Chinese ~300w marshydro led

kratky method tub -
Ph: 6.4
Ppm: 470
Temp: 71°F
Light: what ever sun there is throughout the day

comparing both plants (same age), it seems like it likes higher ppm.

For the kratky tub, I simply mixed the dry nutes (Maxibloom) to reach the ppm, added it to water, ph’d once, then started ignoring it.

For the dwc, I maxed out the recommended dosage according to the package per gallon of water (10g/gallon), added it to tank, and adjusted ph - actively recording every day.

this point, I’m not expecting my dwc to live. It’s just an experiment to find out what this plant likes... and correct my system.

Would say def cut back hard on the nutes. Try 1/4 of company recommendations

The white lid has to be covered,no light can get in.Edit~the last pic has a lot of bug damage.

assuming you are using starter cubes, looks like your water line is too high, thereby soaking them

also if you are using a blurple led no bueno. At best, the blurple spectrum is good for leafy greens, NOT, fruiting plants aka cannabis

There's a very inexpensive light that looks the part on Amazon Spider something or other

Hey Folks. Update from my last post with the same grow. I think I'm nearing the end of my grow! I ended switching back to a Kratky Bucket, and like always, things came out great. I'm looking for opinions on if my grow is ready to chop yet or not:

My plants are a little weird. Instead of 1 cola with 1 tip-top, they are starting the spread out. This plant has been through hell so I wouldn't be surprised if that's why - but someone who knows why your explanation would be hella loved.
Thank you guys!
