First Batch of Butter!

Hello RUI! So, after doing some research a few days ago, and getting the green and digging out the ol' crock pot I've been hard at making my first batch of cannabutter (and immensely excited by the whole process!)

I've taken some picks, I was documenting the change every hour, but as its really just a boiling pot of gunk at this point they were not overly useful, I'll post the most recent one and the first one.

Anyway, I've got about 5g in 250ml of butter and plan to make peanut butter cookies with it. Think I've got another hour or 2 too wait and then i'll strain and let it settle in the fridge.

On the note of straining, you'll see a pick of the ghetto plan i've got in absence of cheesecloth or anything else. In all my RIU experience I've never been disappointed with a bit of class.

Nice!! I hope you enjoy it, and good luck. I love butter!! Not sure how your tolerance is, but I made mine pretty strong, maybe too strong. I used about 225g of bud to 448g of butter. I have a high tolerance, but not everyone is the same. A non daily smoker ate a half of one and had a blast...for a while until she got awfully sick...One cookie for me and I'm good for hours at a time.

Enjoy!!:eyesmoke:

Haha, thats a lot of weed for such little butter, for my first try making it I wouldn't dare risk so much haha. Even when I first added the weed to the butter I felt disgusting, knowing there was no going back...EVEN WORSE WHEN I POURED WATER ON IT! WHO WANTS WET WEED!

But alas, I 'cooked' it for 9 hours and 47minutes, but now I'm to tired to stand vigil, so I called it there. Hopefully we still get the enjoyment we're seeking come morning.

I took one last picture as I set it in the fridge, does it look as it should? Did I not wait long enough? Please tell me if I should find a tall bridge too jump off, or a comfortable couch to enjoy tomorrow when we make our cookies!

:blsmoke:Lol I think you'll be fine, but I'm no expert. Yeah it sure is tough the first time you "ruin" perfectly good bud, but once you enjoy your budder you'll feel differently about it. Like you know something no one else does lol...

I've cooked my budder anywhere from 12-24 hours. I leave it on "keep warm" on my crock pot and ill let it go over night and strain in the a.m. Make sure you give it enough time in the fridge to separate, prob 8 hours or so. The budder will be at the top in a solid (butter) form if all goes well. I just poke a hole in it and drain the water out of it and use it.

Good luck and let us know how it comes out.

Ps no bridge jumping!!

Ok, well to rap up the process of my first batch of cannabutter. (mostly anyway)

It successfully set in the fridge overnight, and when I went to it this morning I was excited. My friend arrived shortly after, and we set to baking. Now...I'm of the opinion that the only baking a real man can get away with is the kind that involves a bong :P But, alas two bros gave it the ol' brotry and got a result.

We are men, not bakers.

You'll see we made one 'super cookie' as it was so originally titled, and we're not sure how thats going to work yet. We put most of them into the freezer to keep for a few days while we wait for some out of towners. On that note, we did eat a few to ourselves and the experience was mild. I wasn't expected a fuck-parade due to my unwillingness to overcommit good weed to the first effort of mine, but all the same I was pleased that I was able to make the butter and cook with it and of course GET HIGH! So, with this experience in the bag, and a bit more of the batch to use (Which I'll add later once I think of something clever) I've got what I need to make a bigger batch with better results.

Anyway, I'm just getting started combining my two great loves, cooking and cannabis!

The were ok, but it's obvious that I could definitely make it more potent.
As I said thou, for my first time out I wasn't going to pour half a pound in or anything ya know, but if your thinking of making your own butter, then definitely this is the way to go, sittin' around doing what ever it is you do while the crock pot does all the work for you.

Did they have a chlorophyll taste?. That was my problem on my first run, apparently I was supposed to wash the butter a couple more times.

Mine were so unpalatable I tossed the entire batch.

Nope, not even a hint of difference really. Could probably give anyone the cookies and they wouldn't have a clue until they got the floaty sensation from them. Which, will definitely be more of a anchored feeling if my next batch goes as planned.

can I ask what's your drying method? and are you a firecracker fan?

I ask as I hated the green taste to the point I would literally gag when eating one...

I do not add water anymore when making oil tho.. but I am sure it's the crock pot I have gets to about 250 so it's a perfect temp to cook at

I think I know what may have gone wrong on my end. I utilized some good quality trim on that batch with the bud. However, the trim wasn't crispy dry before I tossed it in the freezer for storage. And I probably should have left that trim out to dry for a while due to the condensation from removing out of sub-freezing temps.

When the cookies came out of the oven green, I knew something wasn't right!

Peace
