First Attempt at LST'ing!

Hey guys/gals LocknessMD here and I just wanted to share my first attempt at LST'ing. My Super Lemon Haze is about 38 days into veg and was out growing the C99 plant next to it. I really had my T5 lighting at a skew and figured since this is my first grow I would give it a shot to even out the canopies.

If I did it right it only took about ten minutes to do. All I did was get some thread and lassoed the area I wanted to bend then attached the other end to the run-off tray under my smart-pots with duct tape. Luckily for me the SLH was super bendy and really easy to work with :) Only question I have is to how long I leave it tied down for?

Thanks as always,
Lock

Its a decent first attempt... at least nothing was broken or killed :p
though next time you will want to do it much earlier to get the full effects of LST.. apart from that its not really wrong :)
You will need to leave them tied for the remainder of the grow.

I started LST on my ladies when they were no more then 3inch tall. Topped them a bit before that and tied em over when i could. Either way, you have a good first attempt and will be able to use the practice next time. I dont think it will greatly increase your yield less you veg them for quite a bit longer, but it wont decrease your yield either so its all good :)

I had so much fun LST'ing the Super Lemon Haze I decided to give Cinderella a little love too :)

In the pick on the right I got the main stem to almost do a "U" lol. If it broke I guess I'd just start another thread and call it "First Super Cropping Attempt" lmao.

I'll second this, start early. I started using this method a loooooong time ago when we did it strictly to keep our stuff from poking above surrounding foliage. We used to call it 'wiring' because we just used pieces of wire to stake the branches down. Now it's called LST, go figure. Anyway, your plants look nice and healthy. Like buster said, you won't see the full potential of this method unless you start early and easy. There's no need to really crank the branches over, just enough to cause a bend will do. You will be amazed at the effects this has on the plant. Pretty soon you'll have more branches than you know what to do with. It becomes addicting! It could be quite time consuming if we're talking a large garden but for me, a couple plants takes a few minutes a day. Don't count on any huge colas using this method, that's really not the plan. You'll get lots of medium size buds and tons of popcorn stuff. Although, I have seen some wired plants with some pretty mean-looking buds. Regardless, it's an effective method for keeping plants lower and in control. You'll be tempted to start pruning small stuff off here and there. RESIST!!! Some people swear it helps their plants but frankly, I just don't see how stripping a plant of it's main source of photosynthesis could be beneficial. I won't criticize other people's methods but common sense says you wouldn't pull the tires off a car to go faster would you?PLANT1.jpg This plant is about a month old in a five gallon bucket. The tallest part of this plant is less than six inches high. I started wiring this down after the third node was developed.
