First attempt at Aeroponics. First grow in 2 years!

Hi! This is my first thread post here and it will consist of my first attempt at Aeroponics

This is Bubblelicious 11 days out of the cloner. Been out of this game for almost 2 years. Good to be back. Will install a firm scrog net asap. The deformed/retarded growth come from auxin release after Triacontanol spray @ 10-15ppms.

This is not my grow room. A friend consulted me and wanted some help. I don't have my own space yet. I moved back to my home country 2 years back and just started to get back on my feet. This is a collaboration grow with my Aerosystem and knowledge, inspired by @dstroy. I also want to thank @homebrewer and old Fatman7574 who got me in to this hydro business from the first place. More info will come!

I run a 13,5 gallon(50 litres) rez
Dyna Gro Foliage Pro and bloom mixed 50/50 in veg
It gives me almost the same values as All Pro with NPK of 6.5-7-6. Pro-tek 4-5ml/gallon from start to finish.
EC 1.2
PH 5.7-6.3
Rez temp is about 70-75F. I do rez change when EC drop beneath a certain threshold. But about every other to e3w.

In bloom I'm planning to run a 20/80 mix of FP to Bloom. 4.2-9.6-6

I keep it simple these days with a sterile regiment of residual chlorine at 0.5ppm. I add 1ml of 3% bleach every other day. The only other additive I always use in the rez is polysorbate 20/tween20 @ ~100ppm.

This round I only use Triacontanol as booster because of how short time I've been working with this phenotype. I like to use BAP @ 50ppm once before flowering on established strains. I will only spray Tria @ ~20-30 ppm at 4th week of flowering.

I'm going to try to use 600w MH bulb throughout the cycle. If I could choose I would mix HPS/MH 50/50 but the grow room is not setup optimally.

Spray times is 3 second on and 3 minutes of this run. I use a Seaflo 100psi pump with a simple accumulator. The system run on 12 and 24V. Relays are controlled with Arduino

Rez change today! Everything's moving along nicely. Was planning on spraying some potassium sulphate today but my pH meter broke on me. Will probably receive two new ones tomorrow. She's slow in veg. Got here from a friend of mine. I've only ran Bubblegum from Serious seeds a couple of years back. Seems to have similar growth characteristics in veg. They both look healthy.

Winter is coming. It's getting colder outside. Installed a small heater running on timer tandem when lights are off. Also found my old new stock of 600w HPS. Was a little cold in the tent today 75f. Got it up to 81.5f before I left. Haven't been on location since last update.

Everything's moving along as expected. We may go one or two weeks more maybe. She will fill out faster with the extra watts added. Got my new pH meter on Friday. Calibrated and first use today, love how fast a new meter get final readings. Had topped of with some RO water so pH was 5.3, added some pH up which landed on 5.9, nice!

After request I'll post some pictures at my ghetto setup. If you have any questions just ask.

It's a Seaflo 100psi pump with accumulator 0.75 liters. I put them in line upward so any dirt or sediments easier will stick in filters and tanks. I haven't had any issues with blockages or clogged up nozzles. Fingers crossed.

The system run on 12V using a 120w led driver. 24V for the solenoid valves controlled by relays using Arduino. Spray cycle is 3 seconds on 3 minutes off. Return pump is a 40psi Seaflo pump cycles 30s on 10 minutes off. Didn't have time to travel to the location today. To much stuff going on with work etc.

Plants are doing fine but had some issues with light stress about a week ago. Told my friend/collaborator to monitor the plants for light/heat stress. He said they were doing really good when they infact got burnt. He's using a cheap ass cooltube, will hopefully install my powerplant hood this weekend. I'm not mad, we all have been new to this. It takes practice to get understanding and be able to read the plant.

Roots look awesome so I'm not really worried, the will pick right up but we lost some veg time when they were not growing. Will take some new pictures on friday. They are getting really big and crave food. Raised EC to 1.6.

Cool misters, do you remember where you got them?
Sure! Spray nozzles ordered from "Mr. Drip". I got other fittings at hand for replacement with stainless steel nozzles from "Ammist". If you live in the states I believe you could get the Mr. Drip nozzles at Lowe's, Walmart etc. I needed a more reliable and cheaper source for replacement parts. VAT + shipping was actually higher than the Mr. Drip 3/4 gallon nozzles.

The Ammist ones can be refurbished after a grow in vinegar solution to remove salts. Maybe it works for the Mr. Drip kind as well. Most parts got ordered from eBay and Amazon.

Haven't been on location since the 6th. Missed the ladies! Picked up some Mega Crop food today and their PK Bud Explosion to lower N in flowering. I'm planning on using 60g of Mega Crop and 20g Bud Explosion.
IMG_20191123_192656232.jpg

The rez in my system is about 14 gallons. I think EC will finally land on 1.4 EC in flowering. Mixed 60g MC with 14 gallons of RO and EC landed on 1.25 pH 5.6, perfect. Added about 40ml of Protekt to this. I try to use Silica at 0.07 EC before adding nutrients. Silica is mainly added to stabilize pH with cation exchange. Added 2ppm of Pool Shock or just above 0.2g. Rez change on Monday. I wanted to mix the solution a couple of days before to see if pH will fluctuate or remain stable.

Lowered the EC today because they have greened up real nicely and I saw first sign of slight overferting. Lowered EC to 1.35. The girls are still showing signs of light stress but they have bounced back nicely.

Told my friend to lower the wattage back to 400w about a week ago. Didn't have time to pick up my Aerowing hood today but it will be installed before flowering. I like to have a wide range of wattage and spectrum options. 250-400-500-650 and 800w. I like to use 50/50 mix of HPS/MH in flower.

Roots look insane! Already reached the edges of the buckets an they are reaching for the spray nozzles. I'm gonna get a better flashlight so I can take a proper picture. Looks appetizing, white clean noodles! :weed:

first question while reading through your blog, i thought you needed HPS for bloom and CM for veg?

False. Everything began with metal halide back in the 70's. You can bloom plants with either MH or HPS. HPS has higher par output and is more effective thats why people use it.

I like to mix HPS and MH to be able to get the internodal length I want. Plants stretch less under MH lighting. MH output more uv-b than HPS creating more frost and it grows stouter plants, ideal for indoor growing.
