As the title says my first talk with my Dr about MMJ is today at 3. he's a big pharma pusher so I don't expect positive result. I'm hopeful that he'll at least hear me out, he's always been understanding about the nature of my pain. If not at least I can approach another Doc with a clean conscience. Wish me luck!

Good Luck Bud. Hopefully he has seen the light. dont tell him your smoking it though tell him your making tea and baking with it. He might feel better that your not damaging your lungs in his mind at least.

Well that sucked. I expected a no. However I'm annoyed to say the answer was " if the pain is that bad lets just up your morphine. ". Awesome. Looking for a doc that does sign. Suggestions?

Can't you just transfer your medical records to an MMJ friendly doctor? It's really up to you who your doctor is. Or is it different in Canada? I wouldn't know, I'm American... We pay for our healthcare.

Trust me, we pay for our health care too we just pay it in tax rather than directly to the insurer. In answer to your question yes technically I could transfer them to an MMJ friendly Dr. However I'd have to find one that's taking patients, and is relatively local. We have thousands of people going without health care at all because there are so few Dr's left here. It's quite common for our Doc's to get their degree and move to the US where they get paid better for the same or less level of care.

It was a real struggle to find this Dr and when I did I only got him to take me on as a patient through a referral. I'm going to have to go the Toronto do no harm clinic route I think.

I would inform him that increasing your dose of morphine would increase the rate at which your body dies, and also increases how much of a waste of skin you become after consuming morphine. And that the reason for your desire to use cannabis is for medical reasons obviously, and that you wish to remain a productive member of society as opposed to nodding from morphine.

Again, I'm the kind of person who will tell the doctor their to live up to their oath as a doctor, but I don't candy coat anything for anyone either.

I'm the same way. He was told in no uncertain terms why I want to make the change, he just see's it differently (Read owned by big pharma). I can't just pull out of his practice as I have kids who also need access to medical care.

If hes the type who is going to judge you then i would find a new doctor anyways, i could just foresee someone giving less thought to your kids because of it. Look into a MMJ friendly clinic like DoNoHarm clinic or any that uses skype if you cant go there in person. Get him to pump out the drugs(not using them if you can) so you can at least say "well i tried this incredibly high amount of drugs and they haven't done anything up until i take MJ and then i dont need to take any of those and im at peace" to the next doctor. Just play the game with them till they are left with no options and you hop from doctor to doctor till one of them see's the light. Grab as much info about the good of MJ from credible sources.

I just had a REALLY surreal experience at the Dr. It's time to re-up my narcotics, (I'm still filling the scripts even though I'm only using Pot for relief now, Simply so that I have them should I need them). Come to find out that Health Canada is now requiring piss tests of everyone who is prescribed narcotics. If I don't show appropriate levels of the narcotics then I'm in shit for dealing. Fortunately I'm not and can show them my collection of bottles. Fucking awesome. So if I want to keep my scripts I have to find a way to piss dirty. Guess I'll be using narcotics for a few days. On a positive note The doc and I had another discussion about my Marijuana use and he's more open to discussing signing my MMAR if I can bring him solid reasons to do so.

Any suggestions on good medical sites that contain well written information that a Doctor is likely to see as sensible rather than the "i dunno man it just works" stuff I tend to see a lot of?

Nor had I, he caught me off guard with it. But apparently Maine's been doing it a while. Apparently after a quick google so are Florida and Kentucky. I'm not stressed about it Opiates only stay in your system a brief time. I'll take some, piss dirty and move on with life. It's just another waste of taxpayer dollars. I'm tentatively excited about my next appointment. I'll jump for joy if he actually signs.

Let me get this straight...you want to use cannabis for your pain but at the same time you still want your script of opiates? Which are you planning on selling? You are not willing to take that poision but tou will sell it?

HMMM!

I'm not taking it, nor am I selling it. Why in the hell would I give up my scripts before I have a valid MMAR? I require a lot of pain management to function. I would be doing myself and my family a disservice by not ensuring I'm capable of taking care of myself. I've been fortunate enough in the last few months to be able to acquire enough weed to meet my needs but that doesn't mean I won't be dry tomorrow.

I also heard of the piss test but its still in limbo, even then its for people on welfare i believe. You cant compare for a second to the states regarding health care, they deal in such ass backwards ways its crazy. Like really? marijuana laws by county and state? but they dont license federally. Health CANADA, meaning i can use my meds in a country twice as big as US from coast to coast newfoundland to b.c , meaning we are federally licensed and local/provincial/federal police can only enforce the law. . . until 2014 that is

I am FUCKING ELATED! Had a third appt with my gp today for my MMAR. He's decided he will sign for me. He'll sign for 3 grams for now, he'd like to sign for more but I'm his first and he's tentative. Once I have my card in hand I have to give up my narcotic prescriptions. I can HAPPILY live with that arrangement. Thanks for the support and help guys!
