i fucking hate the corporate media

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Wildfire investigators in California are looking for marijuana growers tied to a Mexican drug cartel whom they suspect ignited a blaze that has charred more than 87,000 acres of a national forest.
The La Brea Fire, which erupted August 8 in the Los Padres National Forest in the remote Santa Barbara County mountains northwest of Los Angeles, is believed to be the first major wildfire in the state caused by drug traffickers, U.S. Forest Service spokesman Jim Turner said on Monday.
A joint statement issued Saturday night by the Santa Barbara County sheriff's office and the Forest Service said the blaze was sparked by a "cooking fire in a marijuana drug trafficking operation ... believed to be run by a Mexican national drug organization."
"Although the La Brea Fire started more than one week ago, there is evidence that the unburned marijuana garden area has been occupied within the last several days," the statement said.
Sheriff's spokesman Drew Sugars said investigators found tens of thousands of marijuana plants growing in the area. No arrests have been made, he said.
Authorities said firefighters were warned the growers were likely still in the area and trying to escape on foot.
"The suspects are still at large," Turner said. "We've closed the area to the public ... so if anyone is likely to encounter them, it would be the firefighters, and of course those people have all been alerted and are on the watch."
Illegal cultivation of marijuana in California's forest lands has been a significant problem for several years, prompting federal and local agencies to step up eradication efforts, Turner said.
He added that some but not necessarily all the marijuana gardens had been connected to the Mexican cartels.
The fire, which is about 75 percent contained, was the largest of several wildfires burning in the state in recent days, including one near the northern surfing town of Santa Cruz, which forced the evacuation of more than 2,000 people.

they watch weeds way too much, wht dose it have to be the marijuana farmers cooking fire that started the fire? why couldnt it have been a hiker? and why do the farmers need to cook up there, unless they were baking hash on an open flame?

there just tryin to cause bad publicity for marijuana

The media only reports what they are told.

If you find the source of a fire, and it appears to be a cooking fire, amidst tens of thousands of plants... it is not a real leap in logic.

Because it is bad press doesn't make it invented.

Because the logic seems flawed, doesn't make it wrong either. YOU are paranoid. Tens of thousands of plants? they aren't worried about a flyover.

its still illogical... huge gap in logic... you know why?

if they started the "cooking" fire that ignited the whole thing

how on earth is their crop still around

it even says its unburned

that field would have been the first thing to fry...

so yeah its pretty illogical to assume that an entire section of forest burned down that professional firefighters couldnt save

but some pot growers saved a huge crop from fire they started...

so how could they have started the fire and saved their crop at the same time?

there is zero evidence in this article that states, let alone proves that the growers caused the fire

the statement is basically this

"we found some pot plants while we were fighting fires so its their fault"

you obviously have never seen a western fire. you can pretty much narrow it down to a square foot of where it started. follow the triangular burn till it ends...bam....you are there. i wasinthemiddleofthe hayman firein colorado. it was started by a forest ranger onpurpose. she caught a love letter on fire in a emp;ty fire pit. burned 600 square miles yet the start of the fire was no wider than a small rock fire ring.

#2 professional fire fighters are almost never able to put out a forest fire. they are put out by conditions. forest fires are mostly just "contained" by small breaks that the fire fighters cut in the forest. then the wind dies down or a good rain and the fire extinguishes itself by running out of fuel.

#3 during western fires there is very little to no green vegetation, thats why it burns so much. the green plants can survive because of the moisture content. the fire kind of crawls along the ground and spares some of the green vegetation, its really quite fascinating to see. of course some fires are like furnaces where everything is killed to the point of sterility to feet below the surface of the ground. its quite terrorizing to see. nothing but black, dead soot.

It has nothing to do with marijuana, they basically said it was an accident caused by cooking. Now I don't know about you , but if I want to start something on fire, I do not start cooking. Normally I just light a piece of paper on fire with my lighter, no need to wait for the ole fryin pan to get flame inducing hot!

Accidents can happen to anyone at any time.

What if it were girl scouts who had accidentally started the fire? Would we all stop buying their cookies?
