Finally, I have bought a lab glassware kit. I will use it for QWET extractions with ethanol and also extractions with N-hexane. I have a distillation apparatus to reclaim the solvents.
My biggest concern is the safety. Heating mantle looks far more easy to handle but less heat stable than oil bath. But the situation must be complicated to say the least if something goes wrong with the vessel containing the oil. There is lots of information on the internet but I did only find answers for general organic chemistry and not this specific temperature range.
I would appreciate your advice. Do you prefer oil bath on a hot plate with stirring or a heating mantle for volatile solvents like N-hexane?
