Fire, Flames, Fire
Unless you fortunate enough to live in legal or even decriminalized land, the threat of detection is a serious consideration. Despite how ridiculous the Anti-Drug Campaign is, the repercussions for "cannabis criminals" are very real. (http://www.shortnews.com/start.cfm?id=30899)
Of the various failures which lead to detection, the one that concerns me most is potential fires. I live alone in my apartment with several plants. Word of Mouth is not a worry (no one knows) and the smell is hardly noticeable even inside my garden. The only real issue is fires.
For the electrically experienced, my concern might translate to paranoia (and hopefully you are right) --- but I open this thread asking for legitimate reasons to quell my anxiety. I'm not simply asking for personal narratives or "opinions"; I'm hoping to create a thread with information from eletrical-savvy individuals and experienced growers.

My garden consist of 4-5 plants in a closet running under two 105 Watt full spectrum CFLs. Mylar surrounds the walls, and aluminum foil covers the carpet underneath. The lights are hung securely by chains, and there is no fear of them dislodging or falling.

So please, for those who can reply, answer honestly what I can do to prevent electrical fires even in WORST CASE SCENARIOS (lightning surges, another tenant overloads circuit, etc etc). Or, if on some level, certain electrical fire dangers are out of my control, tell me so. I'm looking for 100% certainty, or multiple plans of precaution.

Basically, I'm not worried about fires when I'm home. It's a small garden, and I can easily extinguish the hazard or garbage the plants in minutes. Rather, I'm worried about being away at work for hours, and in the meanwhile a fire starting which leads to individuals doing me a "favor" by coming into my apartment to put it out.

Quite a rant; sorry to kill the marijuana buzz. I had a wonderful, rewarding first grow, but if these worries aren't resolved, I won't start another. I researched heavily but found no "all-encompassing" sticky about fires. Thanks for all replys.
