Im 3 weeks into vegging and theyre about 9 inches tall and lookin strong. Im gonna give them one more week to veg then probably flower at around 12 inches. My final questions are A. Right now they are in one gallon milk jug's, should I transplant them into 2 gallon pots (only if its esential, im tight on space) and B. Should I use any sort of blood fetalizer/general fertalizer? Thanks guys

A - the bigger the pots the bigger the roots = bigger yield
B - yes u should change ur nutes to bloom nutes wich are higher in (P) and (K), plants in flower need more Phosphorus and Potassium then Nitrogen...

Would it be too much of a shock to transplay during flowering that way I dont waste space on males?
If u really have to, but that will set the budding back a bit...and get some Superthrive it´s excellent for shock trasplant that way the risk of getting hermies will loewr aswell

Im doing it in a big box, which is why im afraid to use HPS cause the floresnts can be around 2 inches away from the plants, but an HPS at that close would be damaging. The box is about 34 inches tall(pots are 14 inches, plants at the end are hoping to be around 22-24 inches when ready to harvest, so i may have to make some adjustments) Im using 5 125 watt CFL (i am really mad that I can use HPS, for that wattage, I'm spending more money to get 2/3rd the lumens)

Big Chillin, is that 34 " below light? 34-14=20" your at 9" now, are the nodes alternating? Meaning are the fan leaves forming across from each other?, that gives you 11" stretch available (50%)when you flip to 12/12, its a little tight for that size box. I 'd agree and say yes flip now, but because your box is so small that 400watter will create other problems such as heat, Do you have a good fan? A good size box for a 400hps is 30 x 30 x 70, or if I redid mine I'd make it 48"wide x 36 deep. I too am a soil grower. Moving from Floro's to HPS changes light spectrum and light intensity which produce hard buds. We can provide further advice, so a couple more Q's, total dimensions of box, how many plants? how tall is your light with hangers. You have options, you can top to promote side growth, thus decreasing your height, pinch which also promotes side growth, but that will not decrease height just double your colas, so energy of plant is shared between two smaller cola's.
What strain?

To your "pot size" question I would just say that all the commercial grower, that I know, use 3 gallon pots for inside grows. I use 20 gallon container for my outdoor grows. The larger the pot the larger the plant in most cases.
