What kind of ratio are you guys doing for those of you that add Perlite to Fox Farms Ocean Forest?
Was thinking 75% FFOF to 25% Perlite.

30% and rinse the perlite before u mix...(u will see sludge once u rinse it)
? Never had an issue with not rinsing perlite.
If you do add perlite, make sure you get the chunky stuff, and avoid the miracle grow stuff with nutrients.
I use the vigoro perlite from home depot. Its pretty cheap and chunky

Right on. I went with a good brand from my hydro store up the street..
Preferred ratio?

I always use the 25% ratio, but typically add worm castings and compost to my mix.

Pretty much all potting soils have adequate aeration

Do you just mix the casting in with soil when doing the perlite? And how much casting are you throwing in?

Thanks. :bigjoint:

Honestly i dont have a ratio. If i were to guess, i would say 50% bagged soil, equal parts ewc and compost, and the last 25% perlite. But its mostly by look and how it feels with the perlite.
I have only used fox farms once, and typically use the basic all purpose promix. It is cheap and works well.

You can toss up to 1/3 of the mix EWC. No need to be deadly accurate but usually the more ewc you add in the more perlite you’ll need to lighten it up. Heavy compost tends to make things kinda mucky. Have never rinsed my perlite either; guess I like it dirty..

I've only experimented with soil I only have 3 grows under my belt and 2 I trashed lol so 5 total lol....but 5 mins to place perlite in running water while I do other shit is worth my time from having powder rocks in my soil lol and u only do this once so fuck it lol everyone to their own just saying that's what I do from growing in soil the past 2 years
