FFOF nute strength.

I know that people usually say you can go about 4 weeks without feeding when using FFOF but I think it’s actually much longer than that. Typically I never tried it until now but whenever I used FFOF I always started feeding around half strength after 4 weeks and would get some kinda burn. Since then I’ve used all kinda different soil and found successes.

but now I’ve gone back to FFOF and I’ve gone about 7 weeks with no food and my plants are still plenty green with no signs of food being necessary for awhile. And this is with 50/50 FFOF and FFHF which means that it’s even less nutes Than normal. I think all I added was a little more dolomite and some EWC to my original mix and that’s all. This leads me to believe you can really get about around 3 months to maybe an entire cycle outta FFOF with just water. I know people have done water
Fries with ocean forest before but I never believed it would last this long with no feedings.

I say more growers should save their nutes and go longer without using nutes in that soil. It’s definitely HOT.

That is absolutely strain and pheno dependent.

Some plants just uptake less nutes. So its a range. 5-7 depending on above.

Also what nutes are you using and at what strength?

I just had a girl in some straight ffof that only fed her for 18 days after transplant into 2gal pot b4 the bottom leaves started yellowing & I had to feed. Definitely strain dependent.

I use FF nutes at half strength or below. But I also grow a multitude of strains. Yes I know it’s strain dependent. But what I was saying is I think most strains can go longer than 4 weeks.

I mean I feel you bro. But I’ve grown a ton of strains in FF and never had yellowing after 18 days. Who’s also to say that the yellowing was caused by insufficient feeding and wasn’t caused by ph fluctuations or temps or something else? Because FF is hot enough to where two weeks is a short time for any strain really.

but I also don’t grow in anything under 5 gallons nor do I transplant into anything under 5 gallons. That’s also a factor where we differ. More soil = more available food.

but I have 6 seedlings right now of different strains in starter pots right now of even FFHF with no yellowing.

The nutes we add out of the fox farm line at week 4 are a 6-4-4 blend and a 0-5-7

Although some plants can go further you have to recognize that different plants will uptake different nutrients at different rates. So the soil can easily become deficient in say potassium but not in nitrogen and phosphorus. This is why we give an all around blend in week 5.

My point is most plants will begin to need something around that time. There will always be exceptions though.
