First off, if you ask me politely you'll get farther than if you attempt to make demands. I like your attempt at condescension too. Cute.
Okay, I'll answer simply so you don't get confused.
If you want to voluntarily fund people who inspect what people cook on a consensual basis and report the results, it's none of my business.
If you're asking do I support involuntary funding of "inspectors" who will demand people obey them, I would not support that. Why would you ?
Oh here's a simple question for you. Where would you get the right to make other people fund your ideas for inspectors against their will ? I don't have that right, do you ?
Honestly I don't understand you answer, or the follow up question. We are not talking about some vague idea of some imaginary 'voluntary' food inspectors that I am making up.
We already have health inspectors that a required to inspect any establishment serving food. I am willing to admit maybe I am not 100% an expert on this. I haven't worked in restaurants since I was a teenager but I am pretty confident in saying this. From my understanding, every single restaurant in the US is required to have an inspection before opening, and routinely get checked up every 6 mos or so. That's where the 'letter grades' that hang on the front of food establishments come from. As well, food handling/packaging/preparation already has USDA and FDA inspectors that make sure that food is being handled safely.
What I am asking, to be 100% clear - Are you saying that you do not agree with health inspectors in restaurants/food safety in general? Yes or No. You are free to say No. I won't agree with you, but I just want to be on the same page.
To be even more clear in response to your question, I am not asking for any new funding for inspectors. I am not asking for anything that we don't already have in place. I DO NOT think it would be right to make someone fund "my" idea for anything. I DO think it makes a ton of sense for us to have food safety inspections, and health inspectors at restaurants.
I also think its basic common sense that during a viral outbreak, that we require people serving food to do whatever makes sense, to make sure that they are not possibly spreading the virus to 100s or 1000s of other people.
As far as being polite? Plenty of people who are polite while being total assholes. I prefer to be 100% clear.
