idk anything about FOID cards but on wikipedia it says that the database is controlled by the fbi so it seems possible
if they were looking for him it wouldnt be that weird for them to look around

but they randomly asked me if i had any dangerous weapons or guns in the house. and when they where leaving i asked if they wanted his address they said thats ok...

well problem solved....he doesnt live there?

they have no need to enter your house. And without a warrant for that matter...

should i worry?
idk but if the feds were lookin for my pops ide sure let him know be4 hand, regardless of the situation.

"The Department of State Police shall, 60 days prior to the expiration of a FOID card, forward by first class mail an application which may be used to apply for renewal of the card. It is the obligation of the holder of a FOID card to notify the Department of State Police of any address change since the issuance of the FOID card."

dont worry altho patriot act does allow warentless searches. most likely they wont without approval of a magistrate judge. now if they peek through your door and see anything in plain view that is a cause for a search and they can even arrest you on the spot.

remember to plead the 5th. and in a polite way just say "I am not answering questions without my lawyer present" and ask for a business card from such agent. If u have a security gate u dont have to open it.

Well could be what they wanted was the card itself and that's why they wanted to look around and didn't need your dad. Could be but I don't think so.

AFAIK it's unusual for FBI to work with local law enforcement unless they have something big going and cant do it without their help.

Police will routinely ask if they can look around because it saves them the hassle of getting a warrant. They do this with traffic stops too. The answer should almost always be 'no'.

Is this just a credit card size thing? Then its strange to think they could find it in an unfamiliar house without tearing the place apart. I

It's strange your dad doesn't seem to know about this.

It's strange they don't know your dad doesn't live there any more.

I would be concerned.

yea the fbi can track down obama but they dont already know that my dad lives somewhere else... they wanted to talk to him but they didnt want his alternate address?!?

There's something rotten in Denmark right there. If they were looking for your dad; you dad wasn't there but you offered to give them where he was and they didn't take you up on it... they were not really looking for him; they wanted in for another reason. Don't talk to pigs and NEVER let them in your house, no matter what, unless they have a warrant.
