Fan Speed Controller Not Working

This is odd. I have a hurricane 4" Vortex Fan and an Ideal Air Fan Speed Controller. It's worked great for two years.

Now the controller has no effect on the fan speed,,
The fan runs fine except I can't change the speed.

Oddly, when I plug the controller into an oscillating fan I'm able to control that speed.

The combo just doesn't work together,,

Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

I took the controller to the hydro store and hooked it to one of their fans. Yep just the controller is faulty They said they would send it back and replace it for me.. Pretty cool of them.
