I have a plant that does that. Genetic mutation. My plant even grew a bud out of the center of a leaf. Accidentally cut it off while defoliating
Your plants look nice. Good luck with the grow!

Thanks, this ones been growing far faster thn the others, i did some minor defoliation today (4 leaves, i only wanted to remove 3 but plants enjoy balance) to open up the lower budsights but i leave these 12 finger guys especially if theres a chance at a budsite. Im half tempted to love it to a tent on its own and let it veg out a 3x3. Shes just over 4 weeks today.

The plants next node has a 14 finger fan leaf on it. It looks so awesome, I fimmed the plant so the tips of the leaves are clipped away otherwise I'd frame it.

It looks really cute on the plant when those two little guys appear
yea i think it makes it look nicer the more leaves they have. so far the only consistant thing i keep getting is when i top i typically get 3 kolas instead of 2 at least on 1 of the plants out of 3 plants. i dont fim i always top but the middle part always keeps pushing out a 3rd kola for some reason and then on the other 2 plants it is either nothing or a half assed kola meaning it wants to form but isn't really doing much it might poop out a leaf or 2 and thats it or grow a weird thin kola that doesn't mature enough by the time i flip so i just chop it off

That plant looks beautiful what strain are you growing?
Thanks! Ayahuasca Purple (Barney's) fem crossed with an unknown hyrid type strain male... The cola in the back, and also the bottom left are just Ayahuasca Purple...

But yeah, odd I thought that someone else would have such a similar looking weird leaf. I guess it's not that uncommon. I like how it forms a little X...

from my research 9 - 10 is very common 11 - 12 more rare sign of strong vegetative phenotype, anything higher is extremely rare and just shows good health and genes.

Ahh with the middle part what you need to do is make sure you top a 45 degree, its growing back because you're probably cutting it too flat or too angled, both lead to regenerative growth.

i cut it like a straight line never read about cutting it at an angle before but i will try that out next time and see what happens.

that is the one that the 3rd kola resulted from topping. it grows buds but idk the right kola also has 3 pairs of leaves per node the middle one i believe is the part i topped and the left one is just regular. the smaller plant idk wtf is up with that one but same strain buds are smaller and less frosty but the plant looks fucked up in general. just experimented a lot with them. idk how long more then got to go maybe 2 more weeks probably or 3.

Interesting - yeah this unknown male that originally I took pollen from has made the most vigorous strains and was a very hardy male... super strong branches, quick growth. Has been a good base for pollen chucking :) The taste is sadly just sorta regular, kinda flowery smelling, so I'm hoping this one has more of the mother's terps which are way more hashy/spicy sweet...

Oh mate thats a growth mutation! If you're cloning it would explain why it repeats, but yeah with everything in nature you gotta remove at 45 degrees to ensure growth stop. I had a logger tell me that some trees (I think birch) will even start a need sprout from a stump unless you cut it at 45.

But the mutation you're seeing is
"WHORLED PHYLLOTAXY
This kind of mutation is also very pretty. Cannabis plants have a great deal of natural geometry. This mutation creates a slightly different kind. Regular plants have two leaves that grow from each internode. Whorled phyllotaxy plants have three leaves instead. Plants with a whorled phyllotaxy tend to be extra bushy."

Interesting, I did a selfing of GG#4 and crossed it with a True OG. Two friends, both incredibly good growers, had that happen right before the plants completely hermed on them. I felt terrible. I'd grown them and didn't have that happen and a couple others grew them without that. These are interesting plants.

they are not clones. it is cool though hoping the nugs fatten up before harvest time and they look really huge but idk i think they might be close to harvest already. they needa breed more plants like that imo more nugs per nodes as long as it isn't airy or anything. get um really bushy

Sorry i left out the most important part, it cant be bred, every attempt to breed it fails. Those nugs are looking really good what are you using for light?

ahh that sucks.. it's an outdoor grow probably gets around 4-6 hours of direct light per day though. vegged um inside for a while but kept taking um outside to water cause i didn't use drip trays thus how they got aphid problems so i just left um outside.
