Thanks for the great info. I like the fact that the CAP controller has the variable temp adustment also! i just picked up a Titan Zephyr 1 day/night temp. controller. I want to run my exhaust and intake off this controller thats very similar to yours. Do you think that this idea is ok?

room: 8x12x8, 1 1000W HPS w/ light mover and 4 270W Supernova ES LEDs. 2 16" infinite breeze oscilating fans, and a small heater on its own thermostat.

Exhaust: 3' carbon filter, 8" Vortex fan

Intake: 8" valueline fan downsized to accept a 4" HEPA filter
 
Normal speed controllers add wear to the motor and bearings. They also add a shite load of HUM for ANY fan 6" and over generally.
Look into variac fan controllers to minimise Hum and extend your fans life. More expensive than the standard controllers but a hell of alot more quiet.
Or build one :)
 
I recently pruchased the same controller and have yet to use it for an entire cycle I have been testing it regularly the last week. The cabinet I grow in is located in a basement so it stays quite cool already 65 to 66 ambient, with the controller running it has no problem keeping the temp anywhere I want it bettween 70 and 80. I don't percieve the dreaded 'hum' that other ppl talk about when using other speed contollers and it hardly ever has to run. It ramps up the fan usually below max, I think the 3, 5, and 7 degree settings plays a major part in how fast the fan speeds up and when.
Oh i'm usuing a 400w in a metal cabinet that is homemade
 
Question for people that have the VSC-DNE controller, does the probe for temperature have the photosensor on it too, or is the photosensor on the controller itself. I'd like to be able to mount the unit remotely and still have it sense day/night properly.
 
Yeah I wanted that option also but the senor sadly is located on the unit :( A friend of mine suggested running a very small bulb to the photosensor connected to your grow light to tell it is day time in a remote location. Could use a small LED and put a piece of tape over it if for some reason you didn't need the extra light, like most people I would think, but in a remote location outside the grow you may need a little light to see your controllers ....Baked agian....The temp sensor line is quite long on the plus side and has rounded connection on the end to place a screw through.
 
The S & P fans are not real centrifugal fans. I got to admit they are very quiet, but they are more like booster fans and those are quiet too and super cheap. If you plan on putting a carbon filter on them then forget it. Putting a carbon filter on your td-150 will lower the cfm from 293 cfm to 131 cfm and that's at the high output speed. Most 6" centrifugal fans will run at 293 with a carbon filter and at 400 without one. When looking for a inline fan I would recommend getting a larger fan and turning it down with a fan speed controller.
I wouldn't recommend vortex fans. They say they are the quietest fan out, but they don't even publish sound ratings on their site.

I have basically the same thing, it's made by Titan Controls, the Mercury 3. Set you daytime temp highs and your night time temp highs, and the unit not only kicks the fan on and off, but it speed controls the fan as well, uses a photocell to dectect day and night. Been using it for almost 2 years now, fan is a 6'' from htgsupply.

Does it make your fan hum or make a sound it would not make if it was at full speed?

thats got to be one loud MF :) i got the vsc dne and it works great first i ve got temps to stay perfect and my fan runs 40% what it use to but i have to heat my box so now that heater runs very little :) but like sum one above said it cycles very slow as to not have drastic changes. So its a dual temp(night/day=photo sens) thermostat and a variable speed controller in one
 
DUDES! I have this controller but i think its like the newer version becuase my temp settings are 1,3,5. But i set it for day temp to 76, with it set at a 3 degree variable. i got downstairs half hour later and its at 84 degrees and its hardly pulling air. its moving but at like the lowest speed. Oh and i have the right side setting set to MIN.

Any help:?
