I would like to know what is your favorite or go to fall garden varieties. And what part of world ( climate ) your dealing with.

I'm about to start my fall seeds for collars and cabbage. Here in the deep south US. I'll be putting them in the ground mid August.

I grew cale and broccolini one year. Been meaning to do it again every year since, but haven't got my timing right. Maybe some turnips and collards too.

Pacific Northwest. Planted some corn and more beans a week ago. About as late as you can get away with here. Going to plant some kale. I have a tray of onions from seed that I'll grow until I plant in the fall. I'm also thinking about growing rutabagas and probably more carrots since those overwinter.

I'm thinking about putting in another 4x8 bed of corn also. I haven't ever planted any this time of year before but with adequate watering it should do good.

I got my Arm cukes transplanted today, but ran out of time on planting corn and okra this moon cycle. {today is the full moon} Melon sprouts are ready to go in the ground too. I don;t have a spot ready though. The germ rate on the acorn and spaghetti squash was real low. I planted 15 seeds of each, and got 2 and 5 sprouts.

I'm considering adding a few watermelons and cantilopes but I don't know if I can keep up with the watering. Mostly because if it gets really hot and dry here, the damn clay gets so hard that no amount of water well do any good. But if I get lucky with rain and cloudy days it's doable.

Grow something you love to eat and is overpriced at stores.. This is why i grow swiss chard.. Super food.
Or something that's hard to find in the stores and when you do the quality is poor.

I've never grown Chard. I've eaten it but I prefer a more bitter green. Mustards are one of my favorites. But I'll eat Swiss Chard any day.

After looking into Chard some more I think I'll plant some for a fall crop.

Here's a up date on the fall planting, I watched some yt vids on the subject. And decided to plant some corn and butter beans, collards, cabbage so for I've had a really good germination rate. And will be transplanting the sets some. This is the best I can remember my corn doing in years.

Yes sir, my turnips do pretty good. Never tried beets or garlic, but I know a old house place where garlic grows wild now... the house burned down 30 years ago and the garlic just keep growing and spreading, there's a couple of acres of it.

Three weeks ago when I was at the feed and seed store the turnip seed wasn't in yet, so I will probably be back over there soon looking for some. And I plant a handful of seeds every other week until the first of November.

Well I set out about 15 collard sets and 9 cabbage sets on Tuesday and turned my sprinkler which ran for about an hour and then took a shit, maybe it's pressure switch or conpacitor and hopefully not the motor. I haven't had time to look at it yet.

Here's a little update on the collards... I managed to fix the pump after rewiring the controls ( a small fire made a small mess, it could have been a lot worse ), but by then I had lost about 30% of the sets, the rest are looking ok but I think I need to plant more seed.

Ohh well, I'm not used to planting in the fall and a little bad luck in this heat... I'm lucky I didn't have to buy a new pump or have my dock and pump burn up completely.
