experimental Closet grow with a 50w RGB flood light

Hi guys. taken a huge interest in growing with LED. i have just setup my Closet for a little experiment.

I found this 50 watt LED flood light. I have no idea if it's going to work but it seems to be able to provide a full spectrum of colours.

While I have done countless research on using LED j found myself coming to post my experiment and see if some experienced growers with LED might be able to lend me a bit of advice.

Will it work?

I took 8 of my balcony sprouts that were eaten by my cat lol. left them about 2 weeks to recover but ideally I'm just testing the viablility of growing with this light before I purchase more of them. they're quite inexpensive and VERY bright.

it seems they can change to all sorts of reds blues and purples. which by my knowledge are required for photo synthesis.

I've had them in for 3 days and haven't seen much growth. not sure if I'm using the wrong spectrum of light or if I need to get another one of these bad boys. maybe 3.

I do however want to transfer them to 5 litre plastic plant bags hoping that they might just need more space.

I will post up some pics tell me what you think 20160620_210004.jpg 20160620_205956.jpg

Been wracking my brains wondering why this shit wasn't growing and I transferred them to bigger pots. mother fkrs were root bound. within 10 c hours their leaves were pointing up up to the light also, I was wondering why they weren't growing tall it seems that they started forming a load of leaves at the nodes. so I think it's growing stems and leaves not up. what can I do?

so I've been wracking my brains the last couple days as to why they weren't growing much. decided to xfer them to bigger pots. to my amazement I found then to be root bound. seems those roots feel like growing more than the leaves? also they have started bushing out real nice by the nodes.

leaves pointing up toward the light. think I've got a good balance of soil and note.

why aren't they growing up? not enough light? wrong shade of blue?

These lights are not designed for growing plants. You might be able to harvest something from them, but you will be up against it. If you can, you should look into getting at least 1 white COB LED in there and you can use thing to supplement it. Good luck.

my cat fucked them up on the balcony.

Might have gone through some shock and then also they were only getting 6 hours of sun on the balcony

I've slapped them in the Closet on 20/4

Ok but I'm just saying you're probably not gonna get great results from that particular light. It appears as though that is a light designed for novelty value more than anything. I hope you can prove me wrong, but I fear that you are going to struggle to grow any decent quality cannabis under that light alone. Good luck nonetheless.

Find some full spectrum white LEDs if you can.... blurple (blue and red) is kinda old tech and not very well designed for growing. If you want screw in LED bulbs there is a discussion here that might help you...

Good luck

thanks will check it out.

guess I might be impatient but this light i think is kinda doing the trick.

been in for 6 days now can see some clear visible growth. new shoots fresh green leaves the plants had suffered a great deal to the hands of this ginger ball of fluff I Call a pet

guess I was a little impatient but I do However feel like I don't have enough light . the plants do seem alot happier

I'll make a few purchases set up my design while I await my seeds.

Going to be building an aquaponics LED Setup in a neat grow box. Goldfish FTW

I'm excited to share it when I'm done

check the attached pictures the cat went to town on my stash!!! haha

I'm so baked

thoughts and feedback? it's no longer LED for now haha will get one for flowering maybe 2 big boys. I'll try to choose 2 of the best specimens if females.

I have a nice soil culture there are little worms in my soil.

I've made a quaternary strength foliage spray with that liquid plant food. they don't stock fox farm and all that here so I selected these.
