Experienced Growers Please Help!!

Ok short and sweet... Using very little nutes... White Widow Fem. Seed. Growing in miracle grow x2 soil (started this today) plant is like three weeks old and growing sooooooo slow. I switched the soil due to bugs and Nats all over last soil. I have a 250w Hps but when I use it it's too hot temps are like 89...using cfls until I move in two weeks.... Temps are now around 77 and in new soil. Topped about three days ago. Stem is strong and leaves are super green but such little growth? I switched from 24/0 to 18/6 about a week ago to help her heal.... Any help please??? Esp w the leaves curling how they are?

What is your watering schedule like and what nutes are you using?

the claw leaves are probably from your soil being too acidic and overfeeding. i know you're using light nutes, but miracle grow already has stuff in it. do a light flush with dolomite and hold off on nutes for probably close to two weeks. usually miracle grow has enough 'stuff' in it to last a young plant several weeks, so any extra is going to burn such a small plant. when your plant starts to lighten in color start feeding it again slowly. the acidity can be immediately lowered by adding calcium to your watering. to add calcium, feed with 1 teaspoon of dolomitic lime per quart of water. you can get this from Home Depot.

also try letting the water you plan on using to water the plant with- sit out overnight. the chlorine will evaporate from the water, so now the water is less likely to harm your plant.

it may also be too dry in your house, and having the lights so close (even with good temps) could be making the low humidity a bigger problem than it should be. do you have a fan in there circulating air?

growing prob stalled bc of the change in lighting, the insect damage, transplant shock and over/under feeding.

you have topped an unhealthy plant and it looks as though you only water round the stem.........let it recover a bit and give her a good soaking with water from a high pressure sprayer so the roots get a hit of oxygen

I only water about a half a water bottle every 2-3 days. Yes I have been mainly around the stem. I will start to set the water out at night. Will it go back to a regular rate of growth or it it screwed?

A. No perlite in the soil - means you probably aren't getting enough water to stay in the soil. B. Lights are too close and wilting the plant. C. You used too big a pot. Should have transplanted into a small pot first. Otherwise you sit there for weeks growing a rootball that is too big for your needs. TP them into 4-inch pots with at least 10-15% perlite. MiracleGro Potting Mix has 3 months of nutes and 10% perlite. BigSteve.

Miracle grow has much more than 3 weeks worth of nutrients. That is the biggest issue with Miracle grow is that it is too packed with disentegrating nutrients that are time released. You will still be getting bursts of veg nutrients deep into flowering. Main reason to let water sit overnight is to bring it up to room temperature. Pouring cold water straight from the faucet over your roots is harsh on a plant.
Chlorine evaporating is highly debatable, but room temperature is not.

Outside of that, yeah, there are quite a few issues going on with the grow and all of those together are causing real problems.

Big Steve,

Thanks for the help. I had it in a smaller pot for the first two weeks and it was just stagnant in the soil and the soil was retaining all the water so the roots weren't able to grow. I gingered the soil for lack of better words and got the roots all hanging free then bought this soil and new pot to let the roots breathe and go further down when planning... I removed the cfls and am just using the Hps with two fans on it and Bout 14" away from the tops.

definitely what he said. gonna be the easiest route. i would also highly recommend repotting it with a much higher percentage of perlite. you need to water the entire pot. the roots need moisture to expand, and if you're only watering in a cylinder straight down, the roots aren't gonna have much luck with anything. you also need drainage in whatever type of pot you plant it in, ie holes in the bottom of the planter.

no, there really is no debate about whether or not chlorine evaporates. it does. chloramine will not. whether you have one or the other depends upon your water treatment facilities. i generally just add warm water until it feels like room temp. i don't leave it out overnight.

I'm not dumb lol I have done three grows and never had a problem... Always random bag seed.... This is my first seed bank seed and it's been a biotch. I have a normal pot plenty of drainage I think that's a good point I literally only water straight down this time n don't know why. So will she come back alive!? I mean it's weird because it's so green and growing just slow and small

Yep you are right, chloramine but since most places are using chloramine and most people don't know if their water has chloramine or chlorine it still is debatable whether or not leaving the water out helps. But, either way, bringing it up to room temperature certainly helps.

1st mistake, mircle grow soil, that shit works good for 3 weeks and turns complete shit, your pics are proof of that. ph wacks out, fuks up hard. cant remember if it goes up or down but it sucks either way. never abuse cannabis like that again please. i didnt read the whole thread but what is the ph

I just put it in this soil yesterday and it's grown more since then over the past week. I don't have a pH meter. Doing this on a small budget and just haven't gone out to grab one. Had three great grows without one.... Guess it's time

yeah it'll totally bounce back. just keep it simple. water the whole pot. don't burn it with nutes. make sure it gets lots of air movement, not too much heat and plenty of light...

Stop watering the stem...water the outside of the pot, make the roots go get it.....careful watering with the dolomite lime I would just do it once, that takes a while to work......I would work dolomite into the soil months in advance for it to "cook".

....3 grows with the same soil same water same method? make the fem seed suspect.

Get a pH tester at least the drops NEVER HURTS.

Do not transplant that again into a smaller pot it will only stress it further and do not be on "schedule" with watering especially a new to you plant, water it only when it is limp from drought to gauge what your schedule should be....the pot size you chose has nothing to do with that plant's condition and you've already got 3 grows down with that MG soil correct? So there ya go soil is aight.....3 grows down with the same water and nutes? There ya go pH SHOULD be fine just like before.....looks over watered to me.

Stop with the nutes and water the outside of the pot only, only when it completely dries out is what I would do, and maybe even back the lights off a bit......my 2 cents dude sending happy thoughts :joint:

Appreciate all the help... Watered the outside only... Got on a timer with 18/6... Threw in an extra fan and cracked the window for even more fresh air... Temp is a steady 79 with just the HPS on. I will post pictures in 2-3 days and see if we get any success! Thanks again!

you are going to check the ph right? man your grow will suffer tonz untill u start using different soil, please hear me on this, mg soil is for tomato plants and veggies... not mj, which will stirp every single macro and micro nute out of the soil over time, this is why we fertilize our plants. you can grow tomato's all year in mg and not fert once, i did it last year.

About the MG and tomatoes.....I was putting up to 1tbs/gal of triple 16 maxsea on tomatoes in MG "soil" they loved it....the MG I used was yellow bag time release nutes were like .05-.05-.05.....I have used the blue bags to grow mj b4 they all grew fine lots of ppl use MG to grow mj just fine......not everyone can get ff lol
