Experienced growers can I have a minute of your time?

I'm looking to start my second grow soon and I'm going for the gram/watt. First let me tell you what I will be using, Grow tent (36x20x62), Bubbleponics system (homemade), 400w HPS for flowering + CFL's. I'm going to vent this into a attic with a bathroom fan so it should stay cool right?

Nutrients- I used Stealth Hydro's general hydroponic nutrients last time and they gave me good results, but this is all I tried so I'm open to options.

Setup- I'm thinking about using 2in net pots and finding a tub that will fit nicely in the tent. But w/ the net pots I want to put as many as I can in spaced 1" apart. So hopefully about 20 give or take. Then using either clones or seeds of good strains. Then I was planning on trying LST on a few and the rest veg to about 6" then flower.

As I said I want to try and come as close to g/w ratio, So I'm sure you need to come as close to perfect to accomplish this. My last question is what is the importance of the main variables in growing.

ex.

1)Lights
2)PH of water
3)trimming
4)nutes used
5)ppm of nutes in water
and so on...

In my last grow I had pretty optimal conditions and only came out with .35 as the ratio, but that was with CFL's so HPS could pry help out alot with that.

Thanks for any help,

bump I know some of you out there can help me out
That should work well; you'll love the 400w hid compared to the fluros. What info do you need exactly? :bigjoint:

As for hydro, I've been using coco and clay pellets (hydroton) in 6" square buckets in a 2x2 ebb and flow under the 400w mh in my veg room. I can grow 9 plants up to maturity in it (or lots of smaller ones in beer cups) and it's pretty amazing how fast everything grows. The whole thing was cheap to build as well. About 80 bucks at the hydro store for tray, fittings and pump, 20 bucks at casa depot for heavy duty tote, wood and some cinder blocks and voila. I don't know about the thing you're describing but I can definitely recommend this setup...

I've been using botanicare pbp and liquid karma for nutes. They seem great but pretty expensive. I'm gonna try to find something cheaper that works as well once my 20$ quart-sized bottle runs out.

All those things you mention are important, but really having the right amount of light (i.e. having HIDs) and always adding fresh water to your res are probably the most important. You don't really need a ph or ppm meter but they make things a lot easier...

I was thinking of having the normal bubbleponics setup where you have either 4 or 6 plants, But I want to have close to 20 plants. Instead of using 6" net pots I was thinking about using 2" pots so you can have a bigger # of plants. The way I look at it is you have a set space, and like I did last time I had 4 plants that were clipped a few times so they ended up bushes that filled the whole box and I yielded about 5oz. Now I want to have about 20 plants but no clipping so they grow straight up hopefully to about 4ft. each one. So I will end up with a field of colas. Also I think they will grow better because If it were a trimmed plant all colas are pulling nutes from the main stem where as with what I'm thinking each cola will have its on set of roots, producing more bud in theory. I think I will stick to the same nutes Ive been using because they are $30 for a whole grow. http://www.stealthhydroponics.com/product.php?xProd=4&xSec=43

Here is a pic from my last grow, the strain is dumpster from ohio

I'm well aware that the strain is the most important, I have access to a variety of very good strains, Thanks for the help tho
(as you can see from the above picture)
