hey!

ok, i know in my last thread i was reccomended a grow tent, however, to cut a long story short mdf is cheaper and i can insulate it to keep it warm.

OK! it's going to be 5-6 feet high, 5 feet wide and 3ft (maybe 4 if i can do some convincing :P)deep. Anyway pics and questions to follow

(not to scale, in any way :P)
ok heres the numbers:

1. the light - I'm thinking this Grow Lights > Grow Lights > SuperNova Grow Light the top one, however will one bulb be dual spectrum, or will i have to buy 2 seperate bulbs, for veg and flowering?

2. is a heater, i'm gonna have a look at some small convection ones, to keep it above 16C

3. my attempt at drawing plant pots : 26 cm square, 27cm high, holds 11L (approx 2.5 Gallon). Is this big enough, and for spacing, how far apart should they be? or can they be nearly touching each other?

4. my inlet fan, will a single pc fan be ok?

5. outlet fan, (and home made carbon filter) will 80-120 mm be ok here?

6. just a normal desk fan.

Ok! phew, that seems to be about all im putting in there (minus seeds).

right, for seeds, would the belladonna strain be ok in this set up? and for an absolute beginner? or would another strain be better.

i'm going to build a small cloning part, but i'll get this built first, and products bought, then worry about that :)

any critique for this set up?
any advice, etc etc - i need all the help i can get!

thanks for your time

Ok so with your HID light do you plan on cool tubing the hot air out? How cold is it where you are that you need a heater in your grow room already? Seems like #1 issue with grow rooms is the heat. I doubt you are going to need that heater with that big light (because a 600w light emits ALOT of heat). Look at some threads about venting / heat because i am sure that will be your #1 issue to overcome. Good luck.

what happens in the 12/12 cycle when the lights off for 12 hours?

in the garage where the box will be kept, it can get down to 3-4C maybe a bit colder. So, i'm going to wrap the box in insulation to try and minimize heat escaping.

I've been reccomended that belladonna might not be good for a first grow, so i think i'll go back to ak-47 for now.

as far as the plant pots, how much space will the plants need?

i'll be using this vid as a guide ; ready set grow volume 1

exciting stuff, !!!!!

here's some 3d images:

this last one lets you see a human, for scale purposes

any advice? i'm pretty much there now :D, and i should be growing big buddha blue cheese :D

I am guessing this will be a sealed box with doors on it, and if so you will be battling heat in such a small enclosed area.

My suggestion is to buy a bigger inline fan, preferably one with 300-500cfm. There spendy but that 400w will put out a ton of heat and your going to need more than a 80mm computer fan to take it all out of there

it should be a 470m3 fan , the light's 600 W too

it will have doors, this is just to show what it looks like open :) so you can see inside :)

Ok, I'll chime in because I have had heat issues as well. Ok You set up looks good for sure. As for the light I would make sure and get a cool tube. Get one that is a cylinder in shape because they only need 150 or so CFM for a 1000 watt (works much better than the batwing coolers). :joint::joint:

I would definatly get a heater in there for night time and not worry about insulating the box. Insulating sounds good but while the light is on it will stay too hot, therefor at night it will get cooler. Just get a tiny little space heater to keep it at around mid 60's.

As for extractor fan I would use a bigger one...one that will recycle your are 3 times a minute....helps with heat, believe me. At night when the light is off put it on a timer so it only runs for a minute every 10 or so.

As for the light...I would say get a 1000, better yeilds..better light. Cool tube it and it doesn't matter about heat.

Experiment and find out the best options for yourself...I hope I helped somewhat...I had a lot of problems when I first started and I wish I had someone to ask questions to. I would have saved me a lot of time.

Good luck and keep us posted with a journal.:blsmoke::blsmoke:
