eww bud worms!!

So this is my first grow. I just got home today and decided to check out the goods, when I noticed that one of the top colas
looked odd. I checked it and the hairs were darker and the bud looked soft.. So I further inspected it and found a worm of some
sort! I noticed a couple buds were infected and looked weird so I cut off the top of the cola completely (like top 4 inches) to not
take any chances because the rest of the plant looks perfect. I cleaned up the nug and found 3 more worms.. Sigh.

What are the chances I'm fucked with this problem? Or what would I go about doing? I can't buy anything till thursday.. I was wondering If
I should just harvest early and not risk losing it.. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I've never seen a serious infestation of worms but my buddy had a few. As the plants hung and dried the worms would vacate.

As long as they're not causing rot before you harvest, you should be good.

Get some safer caterpillar killer as soon as you can and spray, spray, spray. It's organic, safe for humans and kills all types or caterpillars.

Thats why u check under your leaves everyday! They make a webb under the leaves leaving a larva. If you see curled or abnormal leaves check it out. I just pulled off two calipiller larva! They will eat your whole plant

soooo there was a bit of brown and the buds themselves were turning very dark and discolored.. I smelled an odd smell that wasn't a good smell so I guess that it was rot..

I spray BT about once a week and it helps keep the amount of caterpillars low. Last year a lost too many colas before figuring out what it was and it was recommended on here to use BT.

haha, yeah apparently because about 4 days ago or so I noticed a leaf curled underneath itself. I cut it off and threw it away! So I just assume that my plant probably
has more than just those 4 worms considering it was a different level of leaves. This sucks too, I feel like in 4 days when I can buy some spray, it might be too late..

Sigh, why on my first grow haha! So demoralizing!

whelp, I have been picking them out by hand as I only have two plants and only one is deep into flowering. I've taken out about 10 bud worms as of now. Not to much damage really. Only the top of one of my main colas was harmed! So what are the chances I can fight these off by hand? And how often do I check the plants?

I'm going to have some safer Caterpillar killer and some zero tolerance because my friend recommended them. Any thoughts? I see one person posted to get it in the thread as well.

Inspect and tweeze your buds daily, especially the colas :cuss:And as mentioned, apply something with BT in it to prevent more worms/pillars Remove the area around the bud rot their shit causes (those dark or black leaves you see/smell  Be attentive and you can salvage most of your grow.

Good luck

Yea bro I completely understand where you are coming from my first grow as we'll and mine are getting ass fucked by these worms on one jus one of my girls I kid you not I have pulled about 50-70 bud worms off from what I have drying and and the rest that's hanging that has pm on it I put threw the h202 deal and another fucking 30 fell off the buds and drowned well anyways what I'm trying to say is 4 worms I wouldn sorry to much jus when you can get on too of it with by the better mine was to far gone to do anything with I still was able to pull over a zip off that I'm smoking and what's hanging that's still salvage able.. Jus think of it as a learning experience I am. And nnow I know for next year to build a green house around them and spray with bt every few weeks as a precausion! Hope everything turns out well for you man. And grow on!

yuuup, found another little bastard today!! had to cut another section off of the top of another cola. Not losing much, maybe an 8th, but the thing is, is my plant is still a couple weeks
from finishing and thats when you start to pack weight on.. So i feel like every time I cut what looks like a gram off, would of been more at the end..

Little depressing as I only have 2 plants but oh well, it's all in the experience of growing!

Jus take it as a learning process man. I have lost alot on my ffirst grow also I find my self going out to the garden and cutting chunks of bud off and throwing it away but I have lost 50%of one of my girls in early flower had to cut half ff and harvest it. But what I chopped off I think saved the plant and what's left looks amazing. The buds are easily 3x the size when I originally harvested it. So think of this. Everything that is cut the energy is out somewhere else. After a while of cutting and chopping at my girls to try n saveThem I decided to jus say fuck it an let them ride it out. I can't get all these bastards so might as well jus hope for the best and jus inspect the buds in a daily basis. But if you can from what you cut off remove all the bad areas and dry the good spots that's what I did so now when I sit in the corner crying lol I can sit there crying smoking a little of her haha. Jus make
The best of it man. Jus llook at it like this how much have you invested into it figure out how much at the end you yielded and then figure out how much money you saved even after getting hit with worms. I still have a bunch that need to be harvested but I already know I have won this year and easily made
My money back. And have smoke to smoke for a while.

Haha, that's what I'm doing now. Attempting to save what I have because as the days go by, i notice the colas are just getting oh so juicy! I've cut 3 chunks out so far, probably an 8th each at the time.
Today I found another one, he was doing work on one of my best popcorn nugs, reallly pissed me off. I cut the whole nug out because by the time I was done it was hollow on the inside lol, so I cut it for some
test smoke in a couple days.

This shit truely does suck tho, just another thing to stress about through my day lol!! And seeing as I only have two plants, I've invested like 200 bucks, so if I can get 2 ounces i'll be happy. I'm pretty sure i'll be
getting at least an ounce from the one baby that is having the worm problem. The other I have no idea but it's way bushier. That one is going to be a PITA to look through for worms. Safers on thursday tho!

Yep, it does suck and it is a pain in the ass. I lost 4 of my large GSC colas, cuz I checked too late :o But Urhighness88 has it right. I mean what the fuck! It is a good learning experience and it could have been (or still can be), much worse. Instead of losing your best popcorn bud, you could be left with only one fukin bud :fire: So why stress? Keep doin' what you're doin' and reap what you can. Whether it's 10 grams or 100 grams. You could have 11 plants to check each day rather than 2 :hump: Unlike this year, next year we will be fully armed and prepared. I pity those fukin pillars then...... :bigjoint:

Hey, good luck the rest of the way home.
